Title: Odd MCI question
Post by: Cary and Don on December 11, 2007, 05:29:45 PM
If any of you have seen the commercials for the prescription assistance program, you have seen the two buses, one MCI and the other a Prevost.  Today we saw a new add that had the MCI in the background.  Well, we have a steerable tag axle, but it sure doesn't do what this bus seemed to do.  It looked like it was rotating almost in place around the center axis.  The front wheels were turned sharp, but this still doesn't seem possible.  Any answers to this out there?

Not having seen the commercials...

An MCI EL3 Rennaissance, flagship model, the tag axle does steer quite noticeably. It is positively moved, not just a floppy follower like on the DL3.

Crank the wheel sitting still, and the rear end responds. Fascinating to watch a coach go lock to lock in a parking maneouver the first time you see it.

HTH

happy coaching!
