Disconnect the batteries and pull the starter yourself. After you play contortionist to get it out (be careful, it's HEAVY), take it to a local electric motor rebuilder. Those guys do miracles with old motors, alternators, generators, etc., and will probably be as reasonable, if not moreso, than buying a rebuilt from somewhere else and having it shipped.
But be sure to tell them that it's from a LEFT-HAND Detriot 8V71, as they turn the opposite way in your 4106 compared to a truck.

PS: A curved manifold wrench or a thin-walled socket with a long extension will help get that one pesky nut off. And if you still have the access hatch inside available, you might find it easier to work from above.
