Title: Busnuts Christmas
Post by: JackConrad on December 03, 2007, 05:16:05 PM
Looks like several of us Busnuts are getting together at our place for Christmas dinner before going to the Turner Center for Bussin' 2008. If there are any other busnuts near Arcadia or coming to Bussin' 2008 that would like to join us, please get in touch with me jconradATrvbus.net or 863-993-3683. At the present time, it looks like about 6 coaches plus us and maybe a local busnut or 2.  Jack

Doesn't look like I'm going to make it this year. Been fighting this one for a month or so trying to figure out a way to justify it,
but just can't. Teri's folks will be here for Christmas, and it's 3 days to FL. Would be tough to make it in time for the rally and
without a job this year, the cost is probably not in the budget.

Tom, beer butt chicken racks are pretty cheap. I think Camping World or Menards has them for under $15. If you can't find one,
let me know and I'll get one and send it direct to Jack so it'll be there for you. If you want the deluxe model roaster, it's about
$60 at Menards or Cabela's. It'll do 3 chickens or a turkey, but you need a burner like is used for the turkey fryers.

Maybe I'll send some fudge down for you guys if I get it done in time.  :o

Jack, Dallas and I have been disappointed that we couldn't make it again this year and now you throw in Christmas. What a way to break a gals heart.   :'(

We really hope everything goes well and that everyone has a very safe trip there.  We will be thinking about you!

Confirmed!!!  We discussed it one final time.  to heck with the money, we're comin down anyway.  We are planning on being there for the Christmas dinner, so i'm sure Fran will bring along something to add.  Shucks, maybe i'll even bake cookies or pie or something since Gumpy isn't.

Save me a space at the rally also.  i've got some used Datastorms to get rid of.

I was thinking of you today, Tom, while I was making triple chocolate and raspberry cheesecakes and chocolate swan creampuffs. They wouldn't
make it to FL, though.

Cody,
you're right, i should have clarified.  We're one of the vendors at the rally, so we try to bring a few items to sell, in case someone is in need.   ::) ::)

one of my other busnut friends had an unexpected finance problem, fortunately not related to his bus other than his bus is colder than he expected since it has less heat in it's barn.  so he didn't buy the used datastorm i had for him.   :'(

we don't try to be the "vendors" we are at other shows though, because this one is as much about learning and mingling for us as it is for everyone else.

i'm looking forward to old friends and making new friends old friends.  also matching board names to faces, which could be scary.  :D :D

We're really looking forward to the rally, I've talked to a lot of people here on the board and we want to meet everyone, this fulltiming thing is like a kid in a candy store, I want to run in every direction at once lol. Libby is trying to talk me into taking my old beat up guitar out of hibernation, she thinks that trying to relearn to play will help my manual dexterity, I'm thinking that typing on the keyboard is going to do the same thing, I'm already up to almost 20 errors a minute. lol

Cody,
By all means, break out the guitar.  We will have a pickin' tent at the rally and quite a few pickers (of all levels).  You are also welcome to use my cabinet shop if there is anything you want to do.  Jack

Cody, mine's been in mothballs for years.  Let's both try and discover the joys of building calluses together.

Ya'll pick on! I'll just listen and enjoy! I had a music teacher way back in JR High School tell me that I should find an interest more suited to me than play/singing music. (Her exact words were "Bryce I'm sorry but your just not musically gifted & quite frankly the only way you could ever carry a tune is if someone put it in a bucket for you!") Ouch that hurt! But I took her advice and put more interest in turning wrenches and listening to music (loudly) and enjoy it! I was able to get a little bit of a payback on down the road though. About 5-6 yrs later I was driving tow truck and went to pick up a disabled caras I was hooking up the car she asked me if I'd gone to JR High at 108 (IPS #). I told her yes I did, and she told me that she remembered my name and that she'd taught music there. I told her I remembered her, and was ready to take her car to the shop for repair. She rode along and asked how I'd done in school, was was I going to college, yada yada yada. I droped her of at the dealerships service desk, and took the car out and parked in in the lot in front of the garage. Then I took my invoice inside to get a PO from the dealership (since they'd called us!), she met me at the service desk and insisted on paying me directly instead of having the dealer add a mark up to her bill. What she didn't know was that we had a standing agreement with the dealership to charge customers that did this the same rate they did (so they didn't look so bad). When I told her how much, she gasped and said "isn't that awful high just to tow a car a short distance?" I never missed a beat when I told her that "tow trucks, gas, insurance, and professional experince weren't cheap & that if she hadn't noticed I did a great job of hooking up her car and had carried it all the way to the dealership without anyone putting it in a bucket for me!" She was most upset and had called my boss by the time I got back to the shop. He was laffing as I walked in and told me he was "proud that I'd done as the dealership requested and charged their rate ($15 higher than ours) and that I'd told her about costs as I defended the rate, but wanted to know what the hell a bucket had to do with it?" Well all I can say is he was rolling on the floor laffing when I told him and yes I got ribbed many times about it after words in the future! But hey now a days I carry people as long as they get in the bucket (seat), sit down, hold on and shut up! Weee!

Lol, Bk, I loved it, I'm learning to play the radio now, I've got Am down pretty good and I'm working on FM.  I had a teacher like that back in school too, she said that if I was lucky and studyed hard, with my abilities and skill levels, I might someday attain the distinction of becoming trailer trash.  Well, I'm still working on it, being bus trash is a stepping stone for bigger and better things, maybe someday I can make her proud and reach the goals she set for me lol.
