Post by: busnut104 on November 29, 2007, 05:05:31 PM
can anyone tell me how to translate this to gal or is this already, 1/4 load 38.0 at 1/2 load 47.0 and full load 73.0 it does not say what type of measure this is??  I just bought a home standby gen LP . 12Kw with a 24HP Cummings Owan eng. Just trying to see how big of a tank I will need. Thanks.

It sounds to me to be gallons of propane.  I would at least have a 50 gal tank.  Good Luck, TomC

Are those numbers per hour?  Wow?  If  gallons, 73.0 at full load. are you sure you had the decimal point in the correct location?  Our PowerTech Diesel is roughly .3 at 25% load, .5 at 50%, .7 at 75% and 1 at 100%. I realize LP and diesel are comparing apple to oranges, but?  Jack

Your right Jack, just didn't look at the numbers right.  Roughly, a propane should burn twice per hour what a Diesel does.  If those numbers were pounds with the decimal missing, it would be right.  Propane is 4 pounds per gallon, so 3.8 pounds at 1/4 load, 4.7 pounds at 1/2 load and 7.3 pounds at full load would sound right to me.  Good Luck, TomC
