For several years, (I'm ashamed to say how many) I have read the BC classifieds, followed the ads on the e-place, and followed every conversion sale site I know, and have traveled from Virginia to Oklahoma, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Ohio to look at buses. I haven't been a hurry, and have come very close to closing a deal twice. I have one or two good possibilities right now. I'm pretty narrow in what I'm looking for.
My question is this; is it appropriate for me to post a description of what I want to buy, in case one of the board members know of someone who wants to sell a coach matching my description? Is there a better way?
Thanks,
Dennis
Dennis,
I say post away!
I found my Bus while going to look at a generator.
No telling what you will find if your actually looking for a Bus ;D
Besides, you have been a Bus Bachelor too long.... ;)
Cliff
yo! I say pot away too, we may have what you want ...in the yard as I have 3 now and am liiking to at least 2 of them
I've heard all my life that you 'have not because you ask not'.
Stranger things have happened. If someone here doesn't have exactly what you are looking for already, they may run across it somewhere down the line.
Here's what I'm looking for;
MC8 or 9, conversion completed or nearly so. Some updating needed OK.
Allison automatic
Tasteful, not gaudy, not "country-crafty" interior(just our taste)
Either low mileage, i.e. original conversion, (Custom Coach, etc.) or one the previous owner has already accomplished major updates on. (Major overhaul, replacement of shocks, brakes, bushings, air bags, etc.)
Roof A/C or central air, doesn't matter. We won't be full-timing, so we don't require a lot of bay space.
Substantially original appearance. Little or no painting over the stainless, no caps.
The buses we have been seriously interested in so far have been;
An exceptionally well done MC8, with custom cabinets, and a Custom Coach MC9, that is somewhat dated, that remains a possibility, if we don't see anything that suits us better.
Pricing; around $55,000 to $85,000.
I will appreciate your comments, criticism, suggestions. I think I'm being realistic, but particular. I guess that's why it's taking me so long. I would like to think I can find one that we'll be happy with for 10-15 years.
If any of you see anything, or know of anything that might interest me, please feel free to contact me at the addy in my profile. Marilyn and I look forward to becoming one of the busnut family, officially.
Please let me take this opportunity to thank each of you, particularly the moderators of this board, who give unselfishly of their time, and to each of you who share your experience and knowledge. I don't have much practical experience with a bus, but I do have a lot of intellectual knowledge, and feel much, much better equipped to own a bus, thanks to your generosity. Otherwise, I would not feel brave enough to tackle ownership. Thank you.
Dennis
We found ours by attending bus-n-USA rallies in Oregon. I would recommend attending any rallies that you can get to. There is always buses for sale and great people to meet. As a bonus they usually have great food and seminars.
Ok Then
