Title: North Carolina/I-95 Rally, May 16th thru 18th.
Post by: NJT5047 on October 24, 2007, 06:59:26 PM
Want to post a heads up that on May 16 thru 18, 2008,  Gene Lewis and Darrell Passer are hosting a bus rally on the Eastern side of the state.
The rally is located near Fayetteville (just North of Fayetteville) at Wade, NC.  The KOA campground is immediately off I-95 at Wade.
They have blocked 25 adjacent spaces for buses.  The sites appear to be large pull-throughs.   There are more sites with 30A and 50A, but they are not blocked for us...they are back-in, and would be available on first come basis.
Incomplete coaches, S&S, and even tents are OK as this CG offers tent camping and bath facilities.
For those that don't know Gene, he was the most excellent BarbeeQ chef at the last T'ville Rally...and Dave Lang was Big Chief chef for the first T'ville (cooked a whole pig!)...MMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!  And Dave don't live far from this'n  either!    ::)
The format will be similar to Kyle's successful Non-Bus Rally.
Here's some data for reservations.
The campground has a good website: http://www.koa.com/where/nc/33123/
There's a sitemap on their website that shows the campsite layout.

Here's the info for U to make your reservations:
Fayetteville KOA   ---   I-95 - Exit 61   ---   Wade, NC 28395
There's an "Online" reservation service listed on their website.
Group Rates apply for one (1) day early and (1) day after.
            Water/Electric site (30 amp)  $ 31.00 per day
            Full hook-up site (50 amp)     $ 36.00 per day

Rates are for 2 adults and 2 childern.

Each attendee to make his/her own reservation.  Reservations requirements are one night's deposit on Visa or MC.

This is a done deal, so feel free to sign on tonight!

See ya'll there!  JR   8)
BTW, better get reservations, already 3 sites gone!   :o

I was trying to make reservations Jr when my bride reminded me that our Nephew is getting married on the 17th of May in Inman, SC and that attending this particular rally just would be impossible.  I am sure sorry as I told Gene I would sure try to attend his rally this year, but you know how things can go.  So be sure to have a replacement to take your photos for you guys as this is definately a notice we will not be able to attend Gene's & Darrel's rally in May.

Hi Gary, Ummm...THERE ARE NO OTHER PHOTOGS TO TAKE PIX.  YOU DA MAN!
I've got a solution....bring him and new bride with you.   We'll marry'em!  No problemo!    Or if you just wait...all hell may break loose in that relationship and again, problem solved!  :D   Don't let your wife see this post... :-X
Surely they won't use up the whole weekend...Thursday thru Sunday?  How long does it take to get married anyway?   You come on over!   Tell'em to get married next weekend!~   Or just run away and elope.  That's much cheaper too!  ;D
Hope ya'll make it!  Gonna be fun....now I gotta get Kyle, and Jon

Jr,
I meant to tell you we were unable to attend the gathering you guys did last weekend with all your Bluegrass musicians as I was called by my Moose lodge Governor Friday Night and he requested that I play my music for their big Legionnaire Dinner they held.  I ended up getting a few $$ paying gigs out of it from other attending Moose Legions so I am headed back into the music again which I love to do and can sit and not have to stand very long.  The Eagle now has to sit a little while until decisions are made after my MRI for my re-occuring back problems are  tackeled and gotten rid of, I Hope!!

I am sorry we missed you guys then, the time just goes by so darn fast and it is hard to hang on at times.

I will map out how many miles it is from our place to Gene & Darrel's rally and see if we can make this a day trip anyhow on Friday as I know this will be a great rally also.  I won't promise now, I hate breaking promises, it is hard to refuse something you ask of me, but I will do all I can so we can at least come see what we will be missing the entire weekend.

Gary

Gary,
Don't worry about the promice --I understand the bumps that come along in life.  Rest assured that should U not be able to make it U and yours will be missed.
Should U be able to work it out so that U can be there for Friday and leave on Saturday think about coming up on Thursday.  I plan on being there about lunch time on Thursday.  My guess is there will be others as well who will arrive early.

JR,
Thanks for getting the info on the board --- U do make a good PR man and we all need one of those.  Thanks for your willingness to help.  This is going 2 B a Super gathering of Busnutz.

To all reading this thread please accept this as an open invitation tho attend a very laid back gathering of bus enthusiast.  To any and all who have an interest no matter how large or small in bus conversion and bus conversion lifestyle I encourage U to make plans to attend.  U will be amazed!

Not long ago I was talking with Luke of US Coach in NJ.  He made the comment to me as to how amazed he was at the phenomenal things busnuts do with their conversions.  To quote him he said, " Here I am with a complete shop, well equipped, and able to work on any bus made, and I am amazed at the things U busnuts do with your buses in your back yard, under shade trees, in make shift garages and barns."   What a salute to Good Old American ingenuity.  Ain't it Great!

We R working on some ideas that will make this gathering one to be remembered so........

KEEP WATCHING THE BOARD --- THERE R EXCITING THING ON THE HOYIZAN!.

enjoying the journey in NC,

OK, so I can't spell and have trouble finding the spell check button === I blame it on age and key board being 2 small.

U get the message & that's what's important.

HellO everyone,  I made reservations today...going over on Thursday the 15th.
VERY nice lady doing the phone work at Wade KOA!    :)

DO NOT USE THE KOA ONLINE REGISTRATION SERVICE!!     The bus sites are all in Gene's name and the park just changes the "ownership" of the site when you register. If you register online, you'll be in the wrong section of the park.

Kyle, you and Gary better get your s#*+ worked out and get on over to the far east!     I do not understand "bumps" in life.    ;) ;D :D
Going to be an easy drive for ya'll.  Interstate all the way!
Don't feel bad about the spelling Gene, when I posted the rally on the BNO board, I misspelled North...like used in North Carolina.  I wasn't even consuming malt beverages!  Couldn't modify or delete the header.  Could modify the body.   Had to email Ian and request BossBus assistance...which he generously attended to!   :)
I'm not sure that a rally is possible without Gary and Kyle!   :-\  Never been to a rally where they were not there!  Even Arcadia...!
Wonder if Dallas and Cat and Cliff....?????????
Well, we finally got a nice rain.  First nice rainy week we've had in several months.  Was 'bout to dry up out here...everyone's in a twit worrying about running out of water.
See ya'll in May!   JR  8)

Gary

How about 266 miles from Greenville, SC  to Wade, NC?  About 4 hours?  All interstate.  I'll be there on Thursday..so come on down for Thursday and Friday.  Then head to the wedding from the CG on Sat?
How's that for helping you plan your life?   ;)
And, Cliff has only about 593 miles!  Easy drive!   Also all interstate.
Dallas and  Bubbagal have the longest drive...784....bummer!~  Maybe Bryce wants to bring a 'crew down for the rally in one of those big ol Setras! Be an easy day trip in a new Setra!   ::)
Gary, you missed a good party!  Lots of people, Wynona was in excellent form Sat nite!
Hope your back gets to improving!   The best treatment for most back issues is "just don't."
Don't pickup anything that's heavier than....ummmm..how to say this... your own plumbing.    :o
They have some great meds these days too.  I'd give it some time before you start down the surgical road.
Good Luck dude!  JR

Jr, I bet you could sell bibles to the pope!! LOL  OK, I will make a definite plan to come to the rally on Thursday with God willing and try to stay most of the day on Friday.  But Saturday, Gotta be here man, you know how that is.  Just asked my bride and she believes the wedding is going to be in the evening so your plan sounds like a go to me.  Hot Dam!!

I will ask your assistance though on one thing to minimize my photography job a little so I can relax with your guys.  I will make out a form similar to (Christy's) she used on her rally.  Great idea, I believe Jack does this also, but as the buses come in if the owners can fill it out with a black magic marker that my camera can focus on it will be easier for me to remember who is what and not have to write it down.  When I do everyone's photos I usually use a photography routine and can easily relate to this ID paper on the right side of everyones windshield with their information like Christy did.  I hope she will not mind me using her idea, she gets the credit not me.

OK, we'll be there on Thursday.

I know I missed a great show when you guys got together last weekend.  You always do and Anita, (Wynona) always is in perfect singing form for me.  Can you imagine her doing a duet with Wynona at the OLD Grand Ole opry??  Man what a kick in the butt that would be and what a show.

Now you got to work on the scenic cruiser man.

Keep in touch.

Gary

Hmmmmm. . . Fresno CA to Wade NC. . . only 2,699 miles. . . shouldn't be much more than a two-day drive, eh?   ;D

On a more serious note, for you GPS junkies, the street address for this KOA is 6250 Wade-Stedman Rd, Wade, NC 28395.

FWIW & HTH. . .

Easy two days Russ!   ;)
Now, who's got the Lat/Long co's?   The location is 14 miles up I-95 from Soldier City (Fayetteville, NC).   Right on the interstate.  Couldn't be any easier to locate.  The campground has a good website.
http://www.koa.com/where/nc/33123/
Don't use the web registration feature...you'll get stuck with the S&S barbarians! (Major exceptions for Gary and Jack!) ;D    Gary and Jack, ya'll reg via phone for the 'bus sites'.
BTW, Gary, has the family member that was so rude as to arrange a wedding on our RALLY WEEKEND divorced yet?  HMMMMMMMMm....they may yet!   ;D  I'm sorry.  Didn't really mean that.   :-[    ::)
I'll bet that the campground sells all the bus camping sites pretty quick.   25% (or thereabouts) are already sold out!  :D
I'd post a list of who's already signed up, but Gene has that info... gauruntee I'll be there, Gene, and Darrell (Orfunauto) will be there.  And there are others...keep in mind that all the reserved bus campsites are in Gene's name...(reckon that sorta means they are already sold out? ;) ).
Ya'll better hurry!

Road trip???!!   :o :o  Where?  When?
Is this for Kyle's new ride?   This is a runner?
Bill Haga and I just returned from trekking to Bassett, Va where we looked at a GM coach for Russ.  I'll let Bill describe the bus...I'm not GM knowledgeable.  But we did get Bill's Honda ATV running during our downtime...I am ATV knowledgeable.  Now brother Bill is GM knowledgeable.  He drove that old GM better than the Easter's guy that was selling it!  That was my first GM ride....cool.
Anyone that has not visited Easter's Bus really ought to get on up there...they have more buses stuffed in small places!  Gads, must be a hundred 102Ds in there.  Cheapest one is $49K...FWIW.  I'm talking parked mirror to mirror.
Kyle, when you going to get the new bus?   I'd be available to assist on most any Sunday and/or Monday.  Saturdays are pretty hectic this time of year... otherwise, I'll be happy to ride along and tell you how to do whatever it is you need to do.... ;)

NED and Wilma, glad to hear ya'll are on board for Gene's and Darrell's rally...the campground must be about sold out!   ;D
That'll be a nice outing...not too far, good full service campground, and Gene's cooking!!  ;D
