We just pit stopped in the Texas panhandle from a 3500 mi trip from south TX up through Branson, St Louis, Springfield IL, Indiana, Mackinack Island in Michigan, Sault St Marie, Taquemanon Falls, Whitefish Point, then down through Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas City and Pampa Tx.
No bus problems at all. Just the cheapo Sam's backup monitor tanked about 10 miles after we left home, so I drove the whole way sans a backup camera. I filled the coach fuel tank in IL and drove the circle 1500 miles before I made it back to Oklahoma and bought $600 worth of fuel at the bargain price of $2.95. It was $3.25 in Michigan. The fall colors in Michigan were at peak and it was lovely, and the weather was warmer than we are experiencing here in the TX panhandle. That was a big surprise.
The highlight of the trip was the Lincoln museum in Springfield IL. We just stumbled into it by accident and spent 3 hours there and could have spent more. It was just magnificent, one of the best I've ever seen. I highly recommend it. I also wanted to go to the WWI museum in Kansas City, so it was a planned stop. We really enjoyed that, also. I've always wanted to know about the causes of that conflict and got a good lesson about it from there.
We will spend a couple of days at the inlaws here in Pampa and head back home Friday. Hope I haven't jinxed the rest of the trip bragging about my mechanical uneventful trip. ;)
I'll have to catch up on all the posts here on the board that I 've missed for over 2 weeks.

David, glad to hear that all has gone well so far. We live off Rt 57 at the Tuscola, IL exit, which is Rt. 36 and Rt. 36 goes straight west to springfield. We go the the Lincoln site about every five years or so and always enjoy it. there is always a respectful feeling when you are in the Lincoln tomb, It gives you a true feeling of reverence for Mr Lincoln.
