Greetings Fellow bus-nuts,
Just a quick "commercial" announcement - we've added the Google Ads ( top of the page ) to hopefully offset some of the cost of running this web site. Mike (MAK) & Dennis from Busconversions.com have been very careful & stressed that we should make the ads as unobtrusive as possible. In addition, the ads are targeted to busnuts! :D Though interestingly enough, on a discussion about the shortness of life and using our buses while we were able, ads for a mortuary did show up. :D
So, an occasional click on an ad is a good thing for maintaining our BBS!! And as we continually have more BBS members, we may need to again add more capacity.
For those of you who don't want to "click", that's OK too - but for those who don't mind - Click away! And Thank You!! ;D
Now back to our regularly scheduled bus nut discussions...
Best Regards, Phil
Phil, I don't think these ads are any issue.
We advertise with Google via their "adword" search. I don't know how that ties into the ads that show up on this board. If there is a way for us to advertise via this system, and make sure that MAK gets the $$$, write to me off-line (jim at rvsafetysystems dot com).
Jim
Thanks for your support Jim. Will do.
Kind Regards, Phil
Jim,
Go to http://adwords.google.com to find out how to advertise your business on there. Not sure if there is a way to support just MAK or not. I'm sure you can chose just certain types of sites.
I have had Google Ads for years now.. NOT one red penny has ever come my way
from them. If you are seeing a revenue stream or imagining one let me know.
Me thinks google is a leach for the most part... Use someone elses bandwidth and keep the money... ( Suspect! )

DrDave:
Do you mean that you pay to advertise with Google and have never seen a return, or that you host Google adverts and have never earned any money from them?
Jeremy
I put Google ads on a site once too... I think this is what Dave means as well... Never got a penny out of Google for them. I left them on there just to fill the space on the page, but figuring that there was no money to be made there.
There has been a very small income. At the same time, it would be safe to say that at this point we haven't come close to covering the first month's web fees. :D :D :D But hope springs eternal - and we have a huge stream of BBS bus nut members. ;D
And the ads are unobtrusive and not difficult to maintain. If they don't produce some $, very easy to remove.
Kind Regards to all - Phil
I go a chuckle from reading the Google ads......Panic Attacks.......Now what would these be doing here on a bus conversion board........ ::) ::) ::)
Paul
Ian has google on his board and when you ask a question places come up where you can buy the item or get a lead from what i have seen.just click on any post and you will see the ads
Yeah, it takes keywords from whatever is on the page so on a forum, it could likely be a lot of different things.
I stand to correct myself... PPPPartially..
Google owes me $39 for over 2 years of clicks... Funny how their records only show going back that far. I have had their ads for much longer... Guess they change things when they rename the program or something and reset the counters...
Ohh Well.. It's not like I expected to live off the revenue...
( or be able to feed the bus with it... )
They owe you $39 but have never paid you any? Are they waiting for that magic $50 mark to send you a check?

No I think the rules say it has to be $100 a month and THEN they cut a check...
I guess I better update my will to include google money if it ever happens....
I of course will expire well before I get a check at this rate....
The old body and bad plumbing are starting to act up again and I can't see or depend on next week or even the next day at this point. Maybe I can hold on for a while more... :-[

Not quite. They cut the check whenever you reach $100, even if it takes several months. (We have arranged for direct deposit, and the funds always show up near the end of the month following the $100 threshold).
But...
AFAIK, all accounts are supposed to be cleared annually, so I would be asking them about anything withheld longer than a year.
Don
I don't mind at all, I don't even notice them. Of course, that could be because I don't see them at all because Firefox's adblock utility strips them right out. Google isn't even targeted specifically, but they fall under the */pagead/* filter.
