I just had a couple of nice days visiting with Jim and Pat and I just wanted to tell everyone how much fun I had! Their 85 Eagle is basically the same as the shell I am starting with so it helps me to see in person what people have done. They were both extremely friendly inviting me into their home on wheels, and Jim took me around and showed me all the systems on the bus. It is one thing to see pictures online, but seeing it in working condition in person is even better.
This fortifies my belief that the hobby I find myself in is filled with great people and I can't wait to be able to go to events and meet more people...
Yes, Jim and Pat are really wonderful people. I met them briefly in CO several years ago and have talked with him via email since. Then last year I got to spend more time around them at the Arcadia rally. It was such a pleasure. I ended up buying one of his
fire extinguishers for my bus, and will probably get another one the next time I see him. Recently he called me out of the blue to
ask me a question about his inverter. Haven't heard if it helped solve his problem. I suspect he's been busy with his business.
I've made many new friends in the last several years since buying a bus. I find most busnuts are as nice and accomodating as Jim and Pat are, and I'm grateful for that. It takes a special kind of person to own a bus.

Yeah, seems like they are on the go a lot! Must be nice in some ways. We did end up talking about you, Craig. I showed him my Hurricane boiler and we were talking about the way you have the tubes run through the floors and walls. I have no idea about this Hurricane so he was showing me how I could do that.
I'm obviously nowhere near that point, but I would like to put some of his systems in my bus when the time comes. They are not very expensive and I have seen enough stuff online about RV and bus fires that I don't want it to happen to me!
Thanks for the kind words guys.
As you have mentioned, meeting great bus folks is a big part of the hobby.
Dale, the pleasure was, indeed ours!!! I would have loved to talk to you another couple of days! I will always be available to offer comments as you build your bus. BTW Dales' daughter, Mackenzie, is a doll and so mature for 10 years old.
Craig, even though your spelling of Shepherd is rather strange ;), I always enjoy talking to you. For others, my call to Craig involved problems with a GFI breaker and my Trace tripping it. I thought I called you back and told you that a couple of more tries got it to work. However, it would trip at least twice a day. After the fellow next to me at the rally left, I tried his outlet and never had a problem. My guess is that the GFI breaker on my outlet was somehow not working correctly.
BTW Dale, the chair and couch we got from you are fabulous! They really got our juices going to get the interior up to the next level!!!
Jim
I'm glad you are enjoying the furniture. I hope to see it at Pomona or Quartzsite!
I was going to send you an e-mail to let you know that you got lucky. Highway 58 has been closed again almost all afternoon and evening. No more deaths today but if you hadn't gone when you did you would have been stuck or at least had to go a long way around.
Mac enjoyed hanging out with Pat on the bus. She just wants me to hurry up and get her bunk built with the drop-down DVD player! haha

Yeah, I forgot to mention that Jim is spelling challenged, but we don't generally hold that against him ::)
You did call back and tell me it worked after you talked to me. My auora. Anyway, I still recommend you put the switch on your ground wire, when you get time. That should take care of the problem when you happen to hit one like that again. I'm plannin on relocating my electircal soon, and will be doing the same with mine. I have a switch I just removed from another part of the system that will work for it.
Take care. Give my best to Pat.
