Where have you gone?
Arcadia, Timmonsville, & The Cove.
What did you like best?
Seeing other buses, kids being able to play without us worring too much & the fellowship with busnuts.
What did you dislike?
Not being able to spend more time at rallys ;D
Where do plan to go in the near future?
I don't know - but I do have several people telling me where to go & when to get off :o
Do they have swap meets?
Always a good thing!
I see lots of rallys in the SE but not many in the NW and will be going to the SW for the winter and will return to the NW before any in the SW. Jerry

Jerry,
Nothing is stopping you from having your own rally. All it takes is a little planning and a lot of food.
You also might want to check out the Rally in Rickreal, Oregon every year!
When Dallas and I had our first Timmonsville rally, I had never even been to a rally. Kyle did a great job of planning a non-rally. The Texas rally was well received and it was their first. You just pick a date, a place, put out the word and do the best you can. No one says everything has to run perfectly or that there has to be tons of buses there. You can have lots of fun with just a few buses. Bite the bullet, plan your own and go for it.
I have been to the 2 T'ville rally's, Kyles first Non-rally and BK's rally. We also had a bit of an impromptu rally at the campground where Bob is. 4 buses, good fun.
Swap meets are great as far as I am concerned. I like things being relaxed. I understand some rally's have set meal times and if you are 5 min late, you don't eat. That isn't the way I like it. I want everyone to have fun without rigid schedules to follow. Cat
National Bus trader's Bus Bashes are on for next year one in AL the other in MI

I went to the last one mak had at the caves, they had some siminars and some good food.
The one I have liked the beat so far is the one I just attended at Cat, Dallas and bk's place. Good food great people and very laid back. You could come and go as you pleased, or do nothing if you wanted.
While I know there are some great people around the board, I don't think you could find any better than those that were there in Tn. I now think of every one them as friend's, wheather they like it or not.
I will go back to there place when ever I can if they will have me.
Don
I'm modeling my rally in the style of Cat's!
The informal & laid back atmosphere is more comfortable for me.
I like the the no rally fee & bring what you can. If you forget something it's no biggie, someone will pick up the pieces for 'ya. It makes it easy when you let everyone participate.
For example, for this non-rally, someone else is bringing the fryers for the fries, someone else is bringing ice, another chicken, condiments, sausage, entertainment, etc!
All I have to do is show up! ;D
Where have you gone?
Bussin 2005 and 2006, 1st Timmonsville, Florida Flywheelers 2006
What did you like best?
General fellowship, Busnuts just seem to be COOL people (OK, there are a few exceptions, you know who you are)
Getting to meet people from the BBS in person (I like to guess who you are and then see if I am right)
Show and Tell around the buses (Thinking of ways to use your ideas, in my bus, but changing it just enough to avoid be called a copycat)
What did you dislike?
Actually its all been good so far.
Where do plan to go in the near future?
Non Rally at the Cove, Maybe Flywheelers, Bussin 2008
Do they have swap meets?
Yes
Good Thread Paul,

I wasn't going to say it.....but since you did!
I have yet to see it at a small rally, but 1st hand at a big one....
When you have that many people your going to have the "Clique's"
But really, would you want to waste YOUR time with people like that....NOT...
"pass the Grey Poupon please"
Cliff
My 4905 had "grey poop on board" on it in the back
The big bus conversion convention I really liked was in 1995 with MAK hosting it. It was at Laughlin, Nv and we stayed at Don Laughlins Riverside resort RV park. There were over 200 buses there. MAK had a big circus tent set up in the parking lot of the hotel with the venders in it, had seminars, and both MCI and Prevost had their bus conversion shells there with factory reps. We also had a special performance by the Oak Ridge Boys (Elvira!). To bad we couldn't have a bus conversion convention of that caliber again-even though I know it was alot of work for MAK. Good Luck, TomC
Where have you gone?
Delaware Bus Rally
What did you like best?
Am I really limited to only one answer here? It was a great time, the people were wonderful and made us feel extremely welcome
It was a learning experience and looking at the buses was a blast. ;D
What did you dislike?
Not having a bus, we were the only bus nuts without our bus :'(
Where do plan to go in the near future?
Hopefully to get my bus!!!
Do they have swap meets?
A few items were available
I've never been to a bus rally yet. I hope to go to Quartzsite next year. The Caverns would be cool. And hopefully that Yosemite thing might come together that people talked about. It don't matter to me. I have fun most anywhere I goand bus people seem like nice folks. I can't wait!

Why not come back to TN with Don next year? We are giving serious consideration to have a spring and a fall rally. Just hop in with Don and head our way. Cat

Or better yet, jump into your new Eagle and swoop down on us anytime.
(Cat keeps a special broom and dust pan to pick up all the, unhh, spares, that become detached). ;)
Dallas
Haven't been anywhere to anything so I just keep plugging along on my bus.

One of the reasons for this post was it might give wannabes a glimpse of what is in store for them in their area, and of course those that have recently purchased a bus or bus conversion.
Another reason was to get a feel for the next Texas Bus Roundup in 2008. I have even entertained the thought of having two, one in the spring and fall. As Dallas, Cat and BK are considering in TN.
I agree that the smaller get to-gethers are more intimate, more relaxed and a better chance to continue friendships or make new ones.
I appreciate all the feedback, even the one Dallas posted regarding scooping up the remaining parts (spares) that are left on the ground. ;) It just makes them lighter! Thus better mileage! 8)
I also know that there are more busnuts that have gone to rallies that have not posted. Awaiting there feedback also.
If you have not been to a rally it's OK to post any replies that you would like more information on. Don't be bashful!
