How many use the small windows at the bottom of their doors?
When I made my door I left the small one at the bottom out.
Apparently they were of come benefit or the coach builders wouldn't have put them in, but was it just to see the curb when stopping to pick up passengers?
I'm thinking seriously about changing the radius of the corners in my window and thought I might add the smaller, lower window while doing it.
I made the bottom of the window even with the bottom of the windshield and used the same radius as the side windows, but I'm not sure its what I want. I think the radius is too large.
I thought about squaring it off like the MCI's (I really like their doors) but it would be two possible leak points instead of one.

If you notice I have the smaller window at the bottom of the front door with a fresnal decal lens that really helps with the "blind" spot. Highly recommend it. Good Luck, TomC
We have one on our Eagle. I really like it. I can't take credit for installing it but I would definitely would have. It sure makes a difference when changing lanes and driving in general.

I wish I had one in my door. There are times when I'd really like to see what's out there, like when backing into my driveway. I have to back in at an angle, and there are some large rocks in my flower bed. If I cut it too quickly, I could easily hit them with the front of the bus. The mirrors are of no use this far forward. A window would be perfect.
BTW, I like the looks of your window in the photo. Post a photo from a 45* angle showing the side windows, door, and windshield, and we'll take a better look.

Gumpy yes the windows are nice! But there are to wats to fix the mirror problem! One is to mount a mirror on the top of the door angled down where you can see straight down beside the door, or now days the have those 1/4 ball mirrors that all the courier vans (Fed ex, DHL, so & so and what ever) I'm sure you've seen 'm on the back of delivery vans where the driver can see the back of the van from his side mirror! Same thing could be mounted up front (skoolies have them now days too!), probably cheaper & easier than modifing the door! FWIW ;D BK ;D
Or you might mount a small security-type camera above the door to watch for curbs, motorcyclists, etc.
Gumpy, here is a side view.
It's sitting on the air bags and has white overspray on the tires, it doesn't look very good but you can see the windows.
Ed,
I really like your paint scheme. Did you paint it yourself?
Thanks,
John
I like it! It looks neat Neoat! Sorry couldn't resist! I do really like to looks though! ;D BK ;D

my guess White bus with Vinyl Tape??
Still looks good though! A bus doesn't have a StarJet paint job to be nice!
Althogh it don't hurt it either! LOL!
yep I agree looks good, Clean and conservative. and likey cost less than 200.00
Thanks for the compliments. The stripes are painted. The paint mask came from Prostripe.
The paint my next door neighbor bought, his daughters (cheerleader, homecoming queen) car needed the front bumper painted. He bought the paint and I painted the bumper and used the rest on the coach.
Here is the rear mural. The stars and letters are in glow in the dark.

Hi Ed,
Great paint job. ;) I am going to paint ours white with an accent color too. A job not for the weak hearted for sure.
Paul
I like it a lot! The window in the door looks good. The paint looks great. I like the humor on the rear. Very nice.
yep looks good.
thought it was vinyl as it is very similar to a vinyl striping layout you can get.
Ed,
The rear end mural is priceless. I hate it when I see a really good one as then it is taken and I can't think of it. Probably a lot of stuff is safe from being discovered by me. Great looking bus. Thanks for sharing.
Do the door window and do it in double pane.
John
The windows on the bottom of the door on my RTS were useful, but I planned to take them out because I plan to have a slide to cover the steps. I plan on using cameras everywhere possible for helping with vision.
That's gotta be the cooooolllest thing anybody ever put on the back of a bus! I gotta show my kids! The girls bedrooms used to have that glow in the dark motif when they were little. Now they have little ones of their own, and they'll still love it!
Dennis
It's just my humble opinion, but, even though cameras at every corner and nook and crevice might be really high on the cool factor chart, the reality is more like, what happens when the monitor quits? or a camera loses it's water tight seal and your in the middle of heavy traffic in the rain?
I'm kind of a belt and suspenders kind of guy, I like having as many options as possible, especially when it comes to seeing around me.
I believe if I were going to use cameras, I would leave any windows needed for vision as a backup when ever needed. Electronics have a nasty tendency to quit working just when you are expecting them to do their best.
However you do it, do it YOUR WAY, you will anyhow! ;D

Well, in my case, it is just that the window in the bottom of the door wouldn't do any good beneath floor level. A nice convex mirror would appear to be more functional in my case if you don't want a camera. I would never totally rely on electronics for something as important as vision, but I will supplement the mirrors with cameras.
My entrance door looks very much like Ed's door and has a similiar single window. My original door had a lower window, but I haven't found that I miss the lower window.
I had figured I could install a lower window if need be, but it is low on my list right now.
Could try the ol "Waxy-on, Waxy-off" approach and be able to sense your surroundings as you will be at one with the bus.
;D
