How difficult is it to change a mci7 from a stick to an automatic transmission? What parts have to be changed? Bus has been converted to an rv and I would like to buy it but I want an automatic.
Thanks for you help.

Probably better off finding a conversion that already has an auto in it. You will need a Allison 740 transmission (with correct torque converter, modulator (air or mechanical), & flex plate), an oil cooler (and hoses), shift linkage (cable or air/eletric), and probably a different driveshaft. Most of this is avalable used from Nimco in NJ 800-526-8055 Jack
I agree with Jack, Probably better off finding an Auto in a Bus already.
there are few and far between MC-7's nice enough to justify the cost of the tranny swap
also not that this swap may end up causing cooling issues as well
Many times the mear fact that the bus has a manual transmission will facilitate the automatic change over just with the price difference. You'll be looking at $15-20,000 to do the change over. For a shop like Pedco, it isn't that hard. Use a HT740 and you won't have to change the rear end ratio. Good Luck, TomC
I know of a little shop in TN that will do it reasonably! FWIW!
