Hi folks, for you Bus-Nuts out here with parts cleaners...what do you recomend to put in them?
I keep hearing folks say that the stuff you purchase and add water does not clean well at all.
Someone said to get Varsol and add a quart of trannsmission fluid to it to add a little grease so your hands dry out.
Please help!

At Costco is Oil Eater-which is a water based cleaner-but in my over 30 years in the trucking industry, it is the best degreaser I've ever used! Can use it for washing car diluted, cleaning clothes, I use it to clean the carpet in my bus, and it smells nice. My wife is ever amazed at how well it gets the grease out of my clothes. I went down a few days ago to buy a couple of 5 gallon pails of parts cleaning solution for our parts cleaner and was told by the Napa guy that it would be either $109.00 or $129.00 per bucket. That's IF he could even order it since regulations had changed and it was considered a hazardous material and a carcinogen. Then there was the question of would I be allowed to buy it, it seems the state is talking about requiring certification to use it.
I instead went to the local Walmart and bought 10 gallons of diesel fuel. I seems to work fine.
As a side note, I keep hearing how Biodiesel is quite caustic to fuel lines, seals and injectors. Our local Co-op sells B-95 for $2.999/gallon and I may try that the next time.

i used to make a parts cleaner with a 30 gallon barrel. we were selling against the safty clean people. i used naptha solvent and put a couple gallons of water in the barrel. no at the drain hook up a intertube from a bicyle tire. let it go to the bottom of the barrel. the heavey dirt will stay there. the lid of the washer had a safety link so if a fire started the lid would fall down to shut off air and snuff out the blaze. thanks jt.
i use mineral spirits, work great and only around $5.00 gallon
K1 Kerosine also works. Can be mixed with mineral sprits ( about the same consistency ).
I also bought a 5 gallon can of parts cleaner at Tractor Supply. I think at the time is was less than $50 ??? Kero works better though. Odorless unlike using diesel.

I bought the solvent from advance auto when they still sold it - paid ~$75/ 5 gal pail.
It no work so good :'(
I mixed the 'super clean' or 'purple power' with water & it works much better. Gotta mix it strong tho. ;D
Always use good gloves, that stuff will do a number on you too!
I just bought 5 gallon of clenseolean. Yes I spelled it wrong, if intrested I will look. It was 30.00, this is all I put in my parts cleaner. I buy from a local oil retailer. Tom Y
You can go to your local oil jobber or supplier and buy Stodard solvent, that is what is used in most professional cleaners tanks.>>>Dan
