Post by: grantgoold on September 28, 2007, 05:26:46 PM
Would something like this work in a bus?

Generac Guardian generators have a very poor reputation among bus nuts. You may have better luck with another brand.

Do yourself and your family a favor and buy a gen set that is designed to operate in a compartment, the problem is cooling and rv gensets are different from home units, also everybody i have talked to thinks that generac is a bad one, they can be dangerous when not installed right and not designied right. this is not a great place to save money. i think safety is a important issue, also nothing can ruin a trip faster than a gen set that wont run or a fire, i have had both.

I've got two Generacs including a smaller unit I've had for years. Never a problem and always reliable even in Utah winters, just maybe not the first choice you'd want for a bus.

My 10kw will have to do the job for now until I can afford a high dollar water cooled low rpm unit but for now it starts with barely a push of the button and runs fine, it's better than nothing. I'll probably just build my own unit.
