hi
i guess if mike is reading this ,he can answer this question or anyone else too
i just bought the bus poster that "bus conversions" is selling on ebay
great poster, good imformation for a newbie like me. (thanks again mike)
my question is ..is all the imformation on each bus 100 percent right???/
the reason im asking is ,i have been in contact with a guy that is selling a 1985 mci a3
he said it has a 6v92 DD in it.
on the poster it says it came with a 8v92ta DD ????
i have read in here that some times people put other (usually bigger engines in the buses when its time for a rebuild)
i just want to know for sure,so when i go look at this bus,ill know he either doesnt know what engine it really is or someone changed it
THANKS
scottie
A3's were avaiolable with 6-92's as well.
problem with a resource as simple as the poster: no room to put everything.

Scottie,
No need to be afraid to look like a fool, stay around here very long and you'll no as much or more than the average seller of the buses yer looking at! And yes I agree with Doug as great a source of info the poster is, it is limited on how much info can be devoted to each model!
I personally have had the pleasures of driving and working on a 102A3 6V92TA 5spd! It was a gtreat bus in it's day! Hopefully the one you are looking at is not the same one however! After it left us it fell into non-caring hands and was a major POS last time I saw it! FWIW ;D BK ;D
I would hazard a gamble that more 102A3 left the factory with 6V92 than 8V92.
As for great rides, sweetest shifting bus I ever drove was a fine example of a 102A3 with an 8V92 and a 5 speed.
A couple of them were on loan from San Diego all the way to Toronto! One of those quirks back when Coach USA/Coach Canada was approaching the peak of the expansion.
The fleet colours were all brown. Can't remember the name. RJ?
Clutch was as light as in a car and the shifter had absolutely no slop at all. Someone, somewhere, had put a lot of effort into these coaches being this sweet.
And the coach would have been at least 10 years old at the time.
I would love to know how they got the clutch that light.
happy coaching!

You're welcome but just dumb luck. I noticed the post times after I removed it and it was only a couple of minutes after you asked that it be removed that I actually removed it.

Scottie looks sweet & in about 500% better shape than the 1 we had after we sold it! I have to agree with BW, back when we had ours it was a sweet treat to drive. Ran great, drove straight, nice and tight, a real pleasure to drive for sure! But the J.A. that bought it ran it in the ground in no time, he had the mentality that bus drivers were a dime a dozen & he could go down to the unemployment office or Walmart and pick out guys sit'n on a bench and say "hey you, you, you, you, you and you come here I got a job for you" and he'd have as good a crew of drivers as anybody could get!
Needless to say he ain't no major player in our area nomo!
FWIW ;D BK ;D

Just down the highway.
E-mail address is in my profile. Let me know.
Cherry is still a good family run business, so we can do a bit of forensic work if it looks good.
happy coaching!
