Is $9.50 per gallon a good price?

A truck stop north of Dallas has Delo 100 40wt on the shelf for $9.95 per gallon....so $9.50 seems to be a reasonable price.  FWIW Delo 400 is also $9.95 per gallon, but doesn't meet the DD specs for a 2-stroke.

You may also want to consider using Exxon XD-3 40wt.  It's ingredients are very similar to the Delo 100 40wt.  I was told that it is approx $9.50 per gallon.  Both meet the DD specs for 2-stroke engines.

Good luck, :)

it was $8.90 by the drum.  I don't know where the stuff is refined but it would seem that the refinery price would be better.  Given we drive all over H and back a barrel seems prudent when passing thru that town.

I think that's about the market. I just paid $166 for two cases + two filters out the door.

Like the salesman said, it ain't gonna get any cheaper from now on.

I am paying $9.49 a gallon at O'Rielly Auto Parts, have to purchase by case of 6.  I ordered 2 cases last week, should be here tomorrow.

PS...a local Chevron Ddistributor wanted $12.95 for it.

Better price than I paid; $11.99 at the local parts store but I didn't shop around. I wanted to change the oil so I bought two cases (12 gal). Engine and filter took 6 gallons so I have enough oil to last me to the next change.  ::)
Actually I don't know how much oil she uses. I wanted fresh oil and filter to start a baseline.

We use the exxon XD-3  40WT in all our Cat motors , Detroit, and Cummins and it works great. Also we buy it from our Case IH tractor dealer for $7.40 a gallon in 55 gallon drums!

The Exxon XD-3 is what Harper Detroit Diesel is selling here in Toronto.

5 gallon pail or 1 gallon jugs
