Title: Pancake BC Cummins Jake Brake
Post by: HB of CJ on September 21, 2007, 04:14:42 PM
OK, all of you (us) old people, here is a tuffy.  Will a standard Jake assembly off of the standard Big Cam 2 Cummins work unmodified on a horizontal "pancake" Cummins BC2 engine?....or will it work with some mods?...or will it not work a-all?  Might be some lubrication issues/mods. Thanks in advance.  :) :)   (I am in contact with the manufacture)

Which engine do you have?  The NH220? Or has it been changed to the NTC engine?  If it is the NTC big cam engine, it doesn't matter how the engine is mounted- the Jakes work off positive oil pressure off the engine.  Good Luck, TomC

TomC, I believe it to be a late type BC2 855, but my local Cummins mechanic is going to crawl underneath and do a eyeball comfirmation along with the block id # check.  Also know that the Jake Brake company has sent me some neat stuff on doing the common mod of a normal BC Jake sooss it will lube and drain in the pancake (horizontal) installation in the Crown.  Thank you.  :) :)
