Title: 3 Old Gilligs in the NW
Post by: JimC on September 20, 2007, 07:56:20 PM
I was browsing the eplace and spotted 3 nice old Gilligs listed by the State of Washington for sale as surplus.
Being from the rust belt they sure look good compared to what they would be like had they spent their life around here!

Thank you JimC.   I will pass it along to my fellow Gillig and Crown freaks.

The neat thing is they are rare rear engined 35 ft'rs.  Only thing-make sure they don't have the Allison AT540 series-it doesn't have a torque converter lockup and is always slipping.  Not bad under 40mph, but at freeway speed- the engine is always revved up and doesn't have much in the way of compression slowing.  Switching to the Allison 2000 series would be good.  Good Luck, TomC
