Well, it getting to be time to finalize everything for Bussin' 2008. If anyone has any suggestions for seminar subjects or crafts for the ladies, please let me know. Or better yet, if you would like to conduct a seminar or craft let me know. We are always looking for new seminar subjects and crafts. Jack
Blacksmithing?? ::) lol
Chaz,
We try to keep the seminars bus conversion or travel related, but I think blacksmithing might be intertesting. Since I know no one more experienced at this art, are you volunteering to do a seminar?
We had a mig welding seminar several years ago the was followed by a chance to weld with a welding professional watching and teaching. Several of the ladies were among those who tried their hand at welding. Jack

Jack the way I see it blacksmithing is sorta conversion related. Ever had to fabricate something that was either cost prohibitive or unavailable of the local Walmart/Home Depot shelf? Also on another note, if a guy named smith is working under a bus, he'll be a
"Black Smith" when he gets done and comes back out from under it! LOL! ;D BK ;D

Actually, I was just going to tell the ladies how to do it and let them go to town with it!! ;D lololol
Actaully, I'd love to do a demo if you felt it was something worth while but I'm not too sure i can make it down. If I get the WVO part of my bus done (doesn't look too likely) I would be able to pull it off.
Blacksmithing seems to be a much better "spectator sport". ;) But I love being a player!!
Nuttin hotter'n a blacksmith!! :P
Chaz
"spectator sport". ??????
2.5# (not as strong as I was)
Hey to me nothing is more comforting than to take a 5# hammer beating a rhythm on cherry red metal while humming a gospel!
OK so it maybe horseshoes but ya got to start somewhere... :)
Skip
Right on Skip!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I would consider it more of a "spectator sport". Not many people feel comfortable handling yellow hot steel and swinging a hammer. But I love it!!
Oh, sorry, not into gospel....................... Heavy Metal!!! :D LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Hammerin,

Ok, back to what the original subject: Crafts for thr Ladies!!
I can think of a lot of topics for seminars.
1. Polishing stainless
2. converting to WVO
3.Rebuilding an 8v92
4. Installing hydronic heat
5. Painting a bus
6. Putting graphics on a bus
7. Diagnosing and fixing electrical components
For the ladies
1. house cleaning in a bus
2. Quilt making (Uncle Ned's wife could teach)
3. Buying groceries for 1 person
4.Cooking for one person.
5. How to do the above without making a mess
6. Orginization 101
And the nice thing about all of these is I would volunteer my bus for each of these seminars
That's what I've always liked about you Ron, always willing to donate!! ;D lololol
But I'm with ya on ALL those topics!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
Always willing to learn,
Chaz
Great ideas! Maybe I should have put more emphasis on the part about anyone interesed in doing a seminar or craft. Any takers? I talked to a man in Orlando about a DD seminar, am waiting to hear back from him. I am also trrying to line up a road side fix seminar and a quiet generator seminar. we also try to always have an "computer type" seminar such as internet access while traveling, virus and spyware dangers, etc. I will see what I can do on some of the other subjects. Jack
Thanx Jack. Sounds awesome. Hope to/would love to attend.
Chaz

Jack,
Hope your event goes well again this year. Sounds like you are really going to have quite a get-together!
Have fun, wish we could be there, maybe the next one.

Id be interested in seminars that deal with the drivetrain...ie, engine,tranny..
Have fun, wish we could be there, maybe the next one.
Gee Paul,
That is EXACTLY what I was thinking a couple weeks ago! Jack
Jack,
Thanks again for all of your help and suggestions for TBR 2007! Everything went very well and it gave me some good ideas for the next one! Same low key approach but with at least one planned bus talk event. Hopefully one that every bus owner can benefit from.
My wife sure enjoyed talking with all of the bus nut Ladies! This was her first event also, and she was excited seeing all of the other coaches up close and personal. She has made me a punch list for things she would like to see. My workload has just been increased. ;)
Many Happy Trails,
Paul

Our Bussin' rallies started with 45 coaches the first year, followed by 75, 130, 186, 198, 168, 180 in the following years. I still like the small rallies, but as the small rally becomes more popular, it is no longer a small rally. I was once told to just cut off the registrations at a certain number, but I could never tell someone "sorry, but you can't come to our rally" and of course some will still show up unannounced.
Right now there are 3 large bus conversion rallies, our Bussin' rally, Busn' USA in Oregon, and MAK's Gathering in Arizona. Unfortunately, many busnuts can not drive that far or get the time off to attend these rallies. The nice thing about these smaller rallies such as Paul's TBR, Christy's NJT, and Kyles "non Rally" is it gives people a chance to attend a rally closer to home. Jack
Before the days of the internet, Eagles used to have several good rallies, as well as GMC and others. In those days there was not really any good method of communication with all the area bus nuts and rally's were somewhat limited to national organizations. FMCA held and maybe still do hold rally's, but they are such monstrous get together that I never cared for them. I did go to one in Georgia and got to meet the peanut president and his better half.
The internet and the attendant bus nut boards have allowed this local type gatherings to grow and I think it is great for the busing community.
BTW, youse guys in the NorthEast better get busy and "pick a date for 08" or all the choice dates will be gone. LOL
