Where does one buy sitkaflex (sp) I saw it for sale locally a few years ago but cannot rember where it was.
Thanks in advance!
West Marine has it. I didn't check but I'm sure Jamestown Distributors would too. Its common in boat building - probably priced better there than any bus specialty place.
home depot has it in the concrete section, where the rebar is. I was jsut in there today and noticed it. Weird as they don't stock it with all the other caulks/sealer.
A word of caution.. Do not buy more that you plan on using almost immediately.
Sikaflex has a very short useful shelf life. It must be kept cool if you plan on storing for more
than a couple of months. Look for the expiration date on the tube before you by it. If it is less that 6 months look for some with a longer shelf life.
Many times I have had it go bad before the expiration date. You have to be careful about that.
It's expensive and you can't take it back..
Also it is best if used with the Sikaflex primer to pre-treat the items before you glue them together.
SikaFlex is not useful in "temporary repairs" once it cures, It stays attached.. That is providing you did the proper priming and cleaning before use.
I used to get it from IBP but haven't for quite a while. I kept getting old shelf stock, they weren't moving it fast enough and the Florida temps were brutal to storage....
I have been using InstaGrab for a few things and it seems to work for interior stuff just great.
( also one that once applied properly, It doesn't want to come off.... ) I used it to attach my bathroom wallboard around the shower 3 years ago and it is still stuck....
I even patched a leaking tube in my radiator with the bathroom version for a 110 mile trip....( Yes I did replace the radiator later anyway.) It was still watertight a week later....
Ho Hum.......Bored...... :'( :'(
