Title: GMC 4104 Glass
Post by: gus on September 13, 2007, 01:06:26 PM
Anyone know of a place to find a 4104 center rear window plus rear window left side along Hwys I30 from Little Rock, AR through Texarkana, TX, to Houston via US 59 and then to San Antonio via I10?

I thought there might be a bus salvage place along this route since I'm making this trip in two weeks anyway and would like to avoid the high shipping cost. I'll also get two windshields if possible.

Used are ok and that is probably all I'll find for the rear anyway.

Also, anyone know where I can find the tool to install the locking strip in the rubber gasket? I might be able to make one but will probably need a drawing or some specs.

I need to confess I guess. I backed into a tree limb at a buddy's house and poked a hole in the rear. It was already cracked on the outside layer and needed to be replaced eventually anyway-at least that is what I'm telling myself!!

Have you considered replacing the large glass with plexiglass? I did and it works fine. My local glass company did it for me for $50. You can get the tool you want from Luke at US Coach in New Jersey.

good,

Yes, I've been considering that after seeing how easy it is to break.

Did your local glass co install the plexiglas or just cut it to fit?

Gus -

New rear glass for the 4104 is now being made from unobtainium, has been for several years.   :'(

Same goes for the 4106 and Scenics, too.   :'(

Wouldn't be surprised if Buffalo's are included now, also.  :'(

FWIW & HTH. . .

;)

Russ,

You must have an extra lying around somewhere? How about if I come by and pick it up next spring on my way to Seattle?

Did you ever get involved in the sale of the 4106 in Visalia by the widow?
