I'm very pleased with my Xantrex RS3000. It also comes in a 2000 watt model. Found a good deal here... http://www.donrowe.com (http://www.donrowe.com)
Cool add ons too. Control panel and auto gen start make it a very nice system.

Tom... and all the others that own combination Inverter/chargers.........

And this is a serious question mind you...

What happens when the Charger part of the inverter dies?

Do you send it off to be repaired? If it's not under warantee, is it cost effetctive to have it repaired?

It all falls back on a question I have had for a long time...
If you have a combination TV-VCR-DVD-Stereo and one part goes out, is it worth being repaired at the Mfg service center?
Or if you have one of those combination  Printer/scanner/copier/fax machines. and one part goes awry, what do you do with it?

I have always been leery of any kind of combination anything... The "Big Mac Combo" holds no excitement for me!
To me it's a whole bunch cheaper to replace an individual component and have a working system than deal with a Corporation(Xantrex in this case) who really don't give a rat's patooty.

As our old and revered member, Fast Fred said... Do it your way.

[My personal favorite, by the way is the Newmar NMR-12-3000IC or the Newmar NMR-12-3000IC-DV.]

Yes, they are combinations, but Newmar has a much better history of customer service and a much better service record than Xantrex.

It seems to me that since Xantrex/Heart/Trace decided to take over the RV market, the quality has gone tittsup.

It looks to me like Xantrex wants to be the Walmart of the Inverter world.

Again,
Good Luck.
