Title: "Kids slide" from little pool to big pool. :) (sewer hose)
Post by: Chaz on September 07, 2007, 03:58:57 PM
Let's try to just make this "down and dirty"  ;D

I need to purchase a sewer hose. And I'm alergic to stuff that runs thru it.  ;) :D :D :D :D LOL
What would you guys suggest as a "good one" and one that is easy to have to deal with?
Also, would you use a pvc pipe capped on both ends to store it in?? Or ??
I just seen a S-n-S going down the road with a blue "tail"!!  ;D  It looked like he had it set up to be stored in his bumper. Cool idea. Too bad the lid didn't stay on!!

 What do ya suggest??

  Dodging the s**t,
     Chaz :D ;D

Chaz,

Wally World sells a entry level dump hose that will serve you just fine until you're more experienced, and 'know' what you really want/need.

Here's the one I have... Still in the box though so I can't tell you if it is any good or not.

I had one like that "Quick Connect" when I had my Airstream. Worked fine.

We always buy the "heavy duty" model. It is made out of a little heavier (thicker) vinyl. To store our hoses (we carry 2 for when we just can't get the bus qiute close enough), I drilled 2  5" holes in the bay floor along a bulkhead that sepaerates 2 bays almost in the center from side to side. I installed a 45 degree 4" elbow in each hole and added a length of 4" PVC pipe. The pipes go along the bulkhead ending just inside the bay door on each side of the bus. I added a 4" coupling on the upper end of each pipe (the fitting on the end of the hose will fit insode the coupling but not in the pipe). Final touch was to put a stainless steel bolt through the bottom of each 45 degree elbow to keep the hoses from falling out the bottom. If there is anything left in the hose, it leaks out under the bus.  Jack

Blueline makes a 20 foot kit now too...

I want to set mine up to dump from either side too. I still gotta lot to learn.

I bought the seweer solution which is the cleanest way to dump and will push it uphill if neccesary . It can be left on for constant gray daining too. Jerry

Jack,
Man, I think I understand what you did. (?) It definitely has me thinking! Would you have a picture of it posted anywhere?
From what I can tell, that sounds like a very nice setup. Clean and easy. Can I assume you could hose out the "slide" while it's in the pvc tube and the water would just go out on the ground? Could you also have the short "slide" underneath the longer one and attach the tubes to a bulkhead on the 45* angle?
This sounds cool. Please help me out.

 Thanx,
   Chaz

Chaz,
I will take a photo this morning and post it for you. I alway rinse the hose before removing it from the dump. The only reason that I can see for not rinsing the hoses in the tubes is that if anything was left in the hose, it is now on the ground under the bus. (not bad in grass, but if you are on pavement ???)  Jack

Chaz,
Here is a photo of the driver's side storage tube. This is our "primary" hose. The hose stored on the other side has a fitting to join 2 hoses together. Although 20' hoses are available, I would rather not use 20' unless neccessary (10' is easy to habdle).  Jack

Excellent Jack!!! That's what I had envisioned. That is a great idea.

Hope you don't mind, but, my ever overactive mind has a modification or two in mind.  ;D  (I just can't help myself!  :D)  As we would do in the Navy, Mark 1 Mod 2.  :)

  Thanx again!!!!!!!
      Chaz

p.s. I'm still wondering which "slide" would be reccomended for the best operation?

Jack,

Very neat idea! I was wondering how to let the hoses drain, don't want crappy water all over inside the bays.

Thanks,

Paul

Paul, Always, always, always unhook the drain hose at the coach end first and use your water hose to rinse it out good while it is still connected to the sewer pipe.
