Well it looks like I'm not going anywhere until I get a new septic in.......
Since this season is almost shot for me and looking at next year.........
I was wondering if there would be any interest in a gathering in the rockies.
If people wanted to use to Glacier or Yellowstone I would need to start now on putting this together (w/ HELP) :)
Let me know

I vote for Bakers Hole Campground outside of West Yellowstone!
A beautiful place 4 miles from the entrance to Yellowstone!

Make it early enough and you can beat the summer crowds.
My sister, BIL and I stayed there for 2 weeks once and had a young moose come through our campsite on 3 different days.
Dallas
I don't know if I will have a bus ready but I would be interested in coming up to meet people. The scenery is a bonus too.
Maybe, but it would have to be in early to mid August for us, as that's when we'll be going out there to take my son
to start college.
I wouldn't mind coming across ND and MT and dropping into Yellowstone. A weekend would be about all we could do.
Kind of checking the calendar......... just some thoughts
June With School being out is an option
Mid July is Rickreall so one could use this as a stop off in route to Rickreall
Middle to late July I have Nationals to compete in. (pattern racing Barrels, Poles Etc...)
Aug....has east coast happenings but can be an option.
Early Sept has BK then the Texas crew.
Dallas great location I would probably suggest a Monday-Friday so the first come first serve wouldn't be
as much an issue even during off peak......
Gumpy.....Oh my one leaving the nest.... So which collage to you get to pay bus funds too? lol
Songman It would be great.....If you end up canvus tenting it you might as well bring the bus a lot more comfortable.
Which ever one you have at the time....
Well we have time so no rush I'll occassionally move this to the top. Just to keep things moving

You're right, Skip... Even a mattress on the floor of a bus is better than a tent on the ground outside!
Hopefully, I'll have the RTS sold soon and be able to start on the Eagle.
Western rallies are a GREAT idea. You'll never find a date that works for everyone - pick something and run with it. We'd love to come but we are booked from mid-June to the end of July. (see my comment re finding a date that works for everyone) :-\
We'll be watching and would love to join you if the dates work.
We would opt for Yellowstone. There is also Rocky Mountain NP. There is a large RV Park in Estes Park. More of a field with hook-ups tho. Much more to do around Yellowstone. Large very nice RV park in West Yellowstone $$$$, but might cut a deal for a group. Any high country isn't really viable until after Memorial Day weekend. September is good, kids back in school, cool nights, warm days. I've been caught more than once in Yellowstone in June with snow. I think the lake level is around 8000'
Don & Sheila
Kids back in school also means my wife (the teacher) is back in school. But like Bob said, there is never going to be a date when everyone can make it.
Well here are my thoughts.
Name: Bussin Every August Rockies (BEAR)
When: Second Monday in August thru that Sunday....2008
Anytime before, during or after that is fine for arrivals and departures.
Where: Current suggestions: Bakers Hole, RV park in Estes park.
Somewhere around Yellowstone (between NP, State Parks, Forest service campgrounds and Private)
If people wish a guaranteed spot that will narrow the selections Hopefully selected by Dec. from what
I understand anything around the Yellowstone with reservations fill up more than 6 months in advance.
Malicious rumors I'm sure.
Agenda: Peace, tranquility and a modicum of BS. The rest TBD.
Following years anywhere else along the rockies. (Idaho,Montana,Wyoming,Colorado) There are others states
but the choices become to many. With the current states listed I will not live long enough to see all the great spots.

ps. yes I am an organizational wonnabee....It's what I do
Well you can count me for a definite maybe, to far away to completely plan yet but I have never been to yellowstone so would be a good time to go. Jerry
We'd be a real strong maybe too - you probably could not have picked a more ideal time for our schedule for next year. I'll be watching for more information.
Very interesting...My mind is crankin' on this one. Keep me posted.

Hi Skip,
Sounds good, since we're now in South central Texas the center of civalization , we're not too far from anywhere.
The schedule time and location is great for us, count us in.
Frank
Skip,
I think that is a great idea, a different park in the Rockies each year, yet held in the same time frame. I don't see it getting as large as the big two due to more hectic summer schedules. Heck, Jack Conrad's rally started a whole lot smaller than it is today. One of the things you have going for that idea is the general location, and same time frame. I can definitely see it catching on. I think it would be a great time for family vacations, your own kids, and or the grand kids.
I have said to my wife many times that is the reason we bought the bus, I want to see as many of the national parks as possible, Canada, Alaska, and maybe the Copper Canyon before I or the bus dies.
THE FIRST ANNUAL ROCKY MOUNTAIN BUS RALLY
Jim
We have found that setting a "standard" time frame helps your rally grow. People will learn when the rally is and can plan accordingly. Our first Bussin' rally was in 2001. 45 coaches showed up for an extremely cold weekend (lows in the 20s & highs in the upper 40/low 50s with a strong North wind). The next year we had 75 coaches attend (and much nicer weather). The rally has grown since then and seems to have leveled off at 165-190 coaches. We set a rally date of December 29 through January 1. This always covers the New Years Eve holiday and falls during Christmas vacation. Some have said they would rather have it later because they want to spend the holidays with family, while others have said they are glad we hold the rally when we do because they could not attend if it was after the Christmas vacation. It seems to work for most, but there will always be some that the dates do not work for. You cannot set a rally date that will work for everyone.
Speaking of rallies, Bussin' 2008 will be held from Saturday, December 29 through Tuesday, January 1, 2008. the rally will be held at the Turner Agri-Civic Center in Arcadia, Florida. We are finalizing the last details and hope to post all the details next week. Stay Tuned. Jack

University of Wyoming. We get a better deal there because we're alumni (alumnus??). Not as good as the free energy money they
throw at their in-state students, but still not bad.
