Title: Texas Bus Roundup 2007 New News
Post by: Dreamscape on September 03, 2007, 08:23:01 PM
Trusting everyone had a safe and fun Labor Day Weekend!

The dust has settled in the corral, the horses are anxious, we're getting ready to circle the wagons!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only are we having a BBQ with hamburgers and hotdogs on Thursday evening, we are also scheduled to have a BBQ Smoker on Friday or Saturday night!  :) Donations will be taken to offset the cost.

Even though there is no reservation needed to mark your spot for the Roundup we still need to know WHO IS COMING for sure. We would like an accurate head count for the food, PLEASE.  ;) Also we would like to make sure because of Sonnie laying out his hard cash for US. He had to pay for 15 spots in the group area, which holds 37. The first 15 will reimburse Sonnie, the rest will pay when you get there. Not a bad deal I must say. Thanks Sonnie! ;)

I know this has been a hassle for everyone changing from Hickory Creek to Eisenhower State Park, at least the dates are the same and the location is pretty close to the original. Can't always count on Mother Nature cooperating!  ;D

Other things planned also, goodie bags, raffle and lots of FUN!

If you have not sent me an email yet for the final count, PLEASE DO SO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. paul_lawry@yahoo.com

I am so excited about this event, it will be great fun.

Happy Trails,

Paul

Are the reserved sites numbered 4 through 39 at the north end of Armadillo Hill Camping area?

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/pwdpubs/media/park_maps/pwd_mp_p4503_032f.pdf

Just wondering??

David,

The area chosen is the Cedar Hollow Group Area. When looking at the map go the the left of center. It is a large paved area that we can park up to 37 buses, not individual spaces. This is what I have been told, we'll see it next week. ;)

Hope you can make it.

Paul, I checked out the directions Monday, as I was driving to Kansas City.  An earlier email had missed a detail.  Take Route 75 north to Exit 72.  From there use Route 91 NORTH to FM 1310, then west two miles to the park (the turn direction on 91 was missing, although it's obvious in daylight.  I only went as far as the park gate, so I didn't check out the specific area - I wanted to get back on my way north.  The left turn to FM 1310 looks ok, there is a left turn lane (but watch out for oncoming traffic.  The turns are a lot better than going into Hickory Creek (there was a real sharp turn that could really sneak up on you).

My original understanding is that there's at least 30 amp service, but if it's a large parking lot, is there electricity? (I guess I should have paid the day fee to drive in and look around.)

The water leak in our coach has been traced to the auxiliary generator, so (at last report), the lines to the coach heater and generator are shut off - so I can run the coach, but not the generator.

Arthur,

As far as I know regarding the area for parking our buses there are individual spaces with 30 amp  and water service for each coach. I think they must be marked like a parking lot, not sure though.

Thanks for the additional information on the directions! That is a big help. Trust everyone going will catch that.

Glad to hear you found your water leak problem.

See you next week.

Each spot in the Group Camping area has 30 amp Elec & water hookups (no individual sewage hookups, but dump stations in park).

I believe we have heard from just about all that had shown an interest in the TBR 2007.  However, we have plenty of extra space in the big group camping area we reserved and I'm sure there will be plenty of food too!  So if you're "on the fence" about coming out it's not too late.....don't be shy, we'll leave the light on for ya'. ;D

See ya' at TBR 2007! 8)

I programmed our GPS this morning, we'll see which route it chooses. We mapquested it and found a pretty good route up to Wichita Falls then East to Denison. Might come back another way, or not!

Doing last minute checks and balances today. I know we will forget something!

See everyone at the Texas Bus Roundup 2007!

Happy Trails,

Paul

Well, TempBus is (barely) ready to roll again, so we're looking forward to seeing everyone, . . . should hit the campground sometime Thursday afternoon.   :)

Actually, Larry will pull the bus out of the garage early Thursday morning and fill it with water, then he'll hook up the car  :) . . . .then he will hover over me  :-[ as I usher the guys out the door to their jobsites, put out the fires  :o that invariably crop up right as we are trying to "get out of Dodge", and I'll be yelling my last minute instructions to the poor suffering Margie  ::) as he drags me out the front door yelling, "Come on, let's get going!"   ;D

Well, that's usually how it goes. . . ;)  Christy & Larry Hicks

Well Paul, it looks like it is finaly going to happen for you, your first full rally dream is coming true and I just know it will be a success and one we will plan on to attend with our Eagle and not the S&S.  I gotta make a goal here to get done.  Best of luck to you and your planning committee in getting this RALLY to be more fun than you imagined and you got some pretty impressive people attending.  Don't forget Pictures, pictures, pictures!! hehe

Take deep breaths on the way there and during, everything will smooth out and fall in place and the darn time just slips past you and it's over but you'll never forget your first one you organize and meeting these busnuts in person is one experience that never gets old.

We'll be looking for some feedback now when you can but concentrate on your fun with your new friends, the rest of us that did not attend your rally can wait on you.  Oh, Give Christy a hug for me if Larry doesn't mind that is, she is a sweetie you will be happy to know in person and not just from her great post.

Thanks Gary for the words of encouragement! :) I really don't think we can match your great writings and pictures, but we will try!

We will take lots of pictures, we have two digital cameras! So watch out Texas Bus Roundup Attendees for some candid shots of beautiful faces and of course a few buses too!  :D

We went to Sam's to stock up on BBQ stuff last night, so I hope you come hungry. Just be safe, we'll be waiting for you, just look for the smokin' BBQ.

Darrin and myself have lots of suprises planned, so bring your smiles and of course beverages of your choice. It should be great fun kickin' a few tires and telling lies.

For those who will not be there, we will share all of the great fun with you when we return.  ;) I will try and keep you posted daily as to who did what and when.

The corral is anxious, the dust has settled, the horses are at the gate. The countdown has begun for the First Ever Texas Bus Roundup 2007!  :)

Happy Trails,

Paul

Paul

Mike Crouch, Richard Locke and myself are going to start the long trip this evening,

it's about 10 miles from my place.  We are going to setup and leave our Coaches over-

night and I plan to be there around 8:00 in the morning.  We are going to set up cones

with your and Darrin's names on them down by the OUT HOUSES.  We did mention that

they do have restrooms, didn't we. HA! HA!

On a more serious side, if anyone needs help or directions you can call me @ 903-815-2141

Looking forward to see everyone soon.

Hi Sonnie,

Out Houses Huh!  ;D I'll remember that! hee hee

Hope your coach doesn't overheat on such a long trip!  ;)

We have to drive about 260 miles in the morning, leaving at 6 or 7 or 8, depending on if the Boss is ready! ::)

Thanks again for all of your help, a true Bus Nut Friend Indeed!

Not sure when we will be there, hopefully around noon, depends on how many stops on the way. We are bringing our two dogs with us, so potty breaks for them and us are in the future. Besides it gives me a chance to stretch my legs and do a walk around.

Topped off all the fluids this morning so we are ready to rock and roll!

See you all tomorrow!

Happy Trails,

Paul

While ya'll are out playing pin the tail on the donkey I'm gonna be pickin the brains of the bus-masters!

And I want ya'll to go easy on us poor work-in-progress converters. (As I walk around and realize the horror of the effluent that the trees above me have deposited on my roof and frantically try to clean enough of it off to qualify to show up in the same neighborhood as you guys...)

Chuck I thought we would play spin the bottle, are you still interested?  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have some black stuff on my roof from when I was in California, it sat under a palm tree. I figure what the heck, just gives me that multi color look that everyone has!  ;)

From what I have read about your posts I was going to be picking your brain.  ::)

See you tomorrow my friend!

Hi Pete,

There will be more I'm sure!

Here's hoping you can make to any of them. I'm sure we'll meet up somewhere down the bus road! I am really looking forward to meeting you and your wife and of course "Eagle Fantasy".

I told my wife tonight that I want her to fill up her camera with pics., then we'll fill up mine. Should have plenty to choose from, not counting any other picture taking bus nuts! I'm sure we will be deleting some of the more candid shots! ;)

This is gonna be fun! ;D ;D ;D

Let the good times roll! :D :D :D

TBR 2007, Here we come! :)

Happy Trails,

Paul
