I am looking for a used well oxidized piece of GM Alumninum Skin to do some polish testing on.
If anyone has a peice of Well Oxidized Chalkiy looking skin they would care to donate for this project.
All the spares I have on hand are new skin

You should be ashamed of your self, wanting to imprison these poor orphans! They like being outside!
Besides the gubberment agencies you speak of wish to do unspeakable harm to them! Like turning them in to scrap metal to be recycled. :o >:( :o
You see, they are happy outside in a field near the forrest where they can watch the deer & rabbits play while resting up for their next great adventure. ;D
They like it so much that they don't leak. Well, not much anyways & even then only when it rains. ;D ::) ;D
Doug Are you planning on sharing the results??? I sure hope so. I have some areas that were under the advertising sign. the area that was under the sign have a real haze to them and to think they were never exposed to the sun , wind rain etc...
I would be glad to see the results... I'm in Canada and that makes it harder to send you a panel, but if you can't find one I'll send you one .

Yes that's right, I am picking on you hoping that if nothing else you'll take the time and resources and turn one of these awesome creatures into a diesel guzzling, road burning, head turning mode of transportation and RV it is meant to be! I am jealous because I can't even afford to have one sitting around let alone a field of them!

I have some panels in the scrap pile off a 4905. but too far away from you to get em to ya Jerry
I got some carpy lookin skins but they are still on the bus. A 5303. come polish away if you want to. But I want it all done mind you, not just one shiney spot.
Jerry, where are they at...and where are they going to...I may be able to in my travels grab them and deliver them? I tavel all over the east and midwest.

results:
Boiled Linseed Oil is the cheapest and least labor intensive.
Flitz: seems to be the next best choice but is not really cheap
it is unknown what the longevity will be
A tip I got from a local skiff builder was to use penetrol. It's available at building supply places and seems to last a long time. He said that raw aluminum treated with several coats of it would show no corrosion after years in salt water service.
We recently cleaned up a corroded aluminum wheel to find out if it would help, and compared to the other three on the vehicle, the difference was astonishing. It's inexpensive, too!
Just something else to try. I'll be using more of it, I'm sure.

Tom, it should be available in the paint department at your building supply store.
It is routinely used in paints and varnishes to improve the flow characteristics. We use it that way and it really improves the ability to apply paints. Have you ever been painting and noticed that the brush starts getting sticky and the paint doesn't want to flatten out?
In paints, between 10 and 20 percent would be about all you would use. I think it will help even in smaller doses.
We always keep some on hand.
