Well, I'm no expert, but for the sake of conversation I'll chime in.  If it looks like a good candidate and you only want to buy one bus, you could always express an interest, ask for more pics, and if it doesn't sell this time around, go look at it.  I'll guarantee it won't look as good in person as the pics show.  You can't see rust, oil-soaked components that shouldn't be oil-soaked, panels that aren't square, bad rubber seals, etc. in pictures unless they happen to be serious close-ups.  There is nothing like seeing the thing in person.
Enjoy bus shopping.

800k+ miles.......likely at the end of an engine lifecycle.

not bad but I can assure you it will not look as good in person.

both these buses are in the 4-5k range that you have shown....is this what your budget is?

If so you would be wise to start looking at older coaches 4104's 4106's MC-5's maybe MC-7's.  most anything newer worth having will cost at least 2x what these are selling for........or you'll put 2-3x in them before they are safe and run well

ain't no such thing as a free or cheap bus, car boat plane cat or dog.

I particularly liked the completely bald spare tire

Looks like a ex Houston Metro Bus.  I got one and it was in pretty good condition with a not too bad rust condition.  Mine is an '85 as well

What seems strange is that they say the engine is a 318.  That is an 8V71 and I don't think that was used in '85.  All of the Houston Metro buses I saw were 6V92.

It does not say what the transmission is.  Houston Metro often used Voith transmissions.  That transmission is said to be reliable, but replacement parts are about gone.  I had troubles with mine and changed to an HT740 before I went to the Series 60 and Autoshift.

If it was a Houston Metro, it is probably worth the money.

Let us know if you get it.

look back a few months ago.  there was an excellent 90 model 15 starting at $10k that never sold.  i think it would have for a few more 1000's, and it was partially finished and great shape (according to the owner)  also in texas.

you can take eagles into canada, just not own them or keep them in canada.

fortunately, that rule got me mine.

if you are in awe of a 5k pricetag you ought to think twice about a bus.

that thing could cost you that much in a month if it is in Bad shape.

Please sit down and cosider what you can afford, then what you want........sometimes they don't match...sometimes you can find a happy middle ground and find a nice bus.

people on here will steer you the right direction......and may even know of something....we just need to know what you want and how big your wallet for the project is and what your mechanical capabilities are.

having sold a bus or two I have turned away more potential buyers than I care to think about after enlightening them as to what things cost.

I don't like seeing people projects end up on ebay because they saw the light a day late

You can't bring a newer Eagle in to Canada. Has to be pre-1971. This started with new govt rules in 1995. If you're not sure check out www.RIV.ca
Any coach built after 1971 has to be as it was originally equipped...fully seated, etc, etc. Only converted coaches allowed in to Canada have to be on the "approved" list or be pre-1971. Been there, Done that.

OK, I give up, why are newer bus conversions not allowed in Canada?? Is this some kind of Motor Home industry protection law?

Here's a list of permitted vehicles...Section 6 is for buses.

Just so happens mine is OK to enter Canada.

Eagle is not on the list either permitted or not permitted.

I was told by the bureaucrats if it's a bus that's not on the list you can't bring it in.... period...Eagle is not on the list so it has to be either pre-71 or have been in Canada prior to the new rules. Luckily ? I found a 15 that was brought in new in 1988.
The other thing that must be done with all vehicles now (been on the books for a while, but just recently imposed) is that you have to have a recall clearance letter from the manufacturer stating that there are no outstanding recalls on the vehicle. If the manufacturer is out of business, you can't bring it in. Conversions which were done on a new chassis by the likes of Marathon, Liberty, etc can be brought in as they were originally titled as motorhomes. If they were run as coaches and then converted, too bad. It's a shame as there are some really nice conversions available in the US, selling for what seem to be decent prices. But they can't legally be imported in to Canada.

OK, I gatta ask why the restriction on the Eagles into Canada?

Is this a safety deficiency of some aspect of the Eagles as viewed by the Canadian Gov't ?

I could be wrong, but I think he was in awe because it went so cheap !

I had one cost me $16,000 in one day! When the engine blew with a load of customers on board!
