Hi folks, in reading the DD Servie Manual, (You can tell I'm new at this right LOL) it says to turn the engine until the valves are even in order to remove the injector(s).
This is an 8V71.
Question, is it possible to remove the injectors without moving or turning the enjine? I am trying to fog it well before trying to move it.

Perhaps I'm not reading enough out of your post to answer your question. If you want to 'fog' the engine is it because you want an extended layup for it...or is it frozen and you'd hope to free it from its' current condition?
If it's the latter and all you want to do is get oil into the cylinders all you need to do is remove the injector 'crab', use an injector bar and pop the injectors out of the tubes and pour Marvel Mystery oil, or an equililant into the injector tube and drop the injector back into the tube.
If the engine is a running engine...DD makes a fogging product that will let you fog it without the engine running away. That will lay it up for a prolonged period of time providing you tape off the induction air inlet and the air box drain tubes so moisture can't get back into the engine.
Our resident DD expert, Dallas, can more than likely throw more light on this than me....but for openers this is the best I can offer.

Jack, of course in the process of doing all this...as I mentioned if the engine is frozen...I believe I would remove the fuel jumper lines and the rocker arms bolts before removing the injector crab and barring out the injectors...
Some of our faithful resident DD experts might think I'm making it sound too easy.

The motor was rebuilt 25 years ago and never cranked. I am trying to get a 'fog' of Marvel Mystery Oil in the entire 'Innards'...prior to try to see if it is not frozen. A lot of folks think it may be OK.
There is a fork lift hole in the oilpan. When I stuck a camera near it and took photos, I could tell there was little damage and there is almost no rust, the mains I saw still have oil on them.
So that is what is goinng on here.

The best thing you could do before you try to start that engine is to talk to david at davids coach on hy 18 between morganton and shelby.
Knows detroits and is a great guy to know if you are going to run and old bus.

Rather than pull the injectors, I would pull the air box covers. That would let you look right into each cylinder and spray oil over the entile area. The other advantage is that you wouldn't have to set the valves and run the rack.

donn, his injectors are probably stuck if it hasn't ran in 25 years and he will have to free them anyway
