Title: Source for reman turbo?
Post by: Brian Diehl on July 31, 2007, 06:39:02 PM
My turbo is literally dumping oil into the exhaust.  Anyone know of a good source for a decently priced reman turbo?

Brian, Glad to hear you are up and running. I bought turbo parts from the internet, I looked for the # no luck. I will try in the garage if you want to go that route. The guy was very helpful. Tom Y

Yes Tom, please do let me know who you got parts from as they may have a reman turbo program as well.

dvrasor, I'll check out the Majestic Turbo.  I'm assuming they will come up on a google search?

I checked my oil level and it looks like I went through about 1/4 - 1/3 of a gallon of oil over the 40 miles I've put on the engine.  Most of it is dripping out of the exhaust system at every joint and leaving a huge cloud of bluish white smoke whenever we were not pushing the engine (i.e. -- foot off the throttle).   :-[

I had mine rebuilt locally they did it while I waited, took them a couple of hours, it was around $500 for a 8V92. May be an cheaper option.

Are you sure it is the turbo?  Have you pulled the exhaust pipe to the turbo to see if it is wet or dry?  Good Luck, TomC
