hello from Tyler TX
i am in the process on installing the ceiling material in a prevost le mirage, i have all the wall and cabinet in , so i will have to work with the old ceiling in which to attach the new material . i will use 1/8 in hardboard ,3/16 closed cell foam and vinyl. what i need is some type of cap or cover to conceal the joint.the ceiling has now 1/8 in thermal board finished on one side . maybe someone has run in to this problem. thanks j.t.
I can't quite understand how you're going to do your ceiling (I have NO imagination) but you might wish to look in the archives or search for Christmas tree fasteners.
A former member of the Board used them to fasten his vinyl covered panels up so he could remove them to access wiring, etc.
Perhaps someone with a better memory than me might even offer a link.

hello again
i have seen some very good ceiling jobs and thought more people would join in
on this job. maybe just tell how they did theirs. thanks again, j.t.
I know you probably already have your material. But consider this- these are motor homes we are making. Does your stationary home have some kind of ceiling material with foam under it? I bet your ceilings at home are all painted. That's what I did, painted the ceiling and ran oak strips to accent it-easy and won't fall down. Good Luck, TomC
You might try using a cardboard strip available from Joanns Fabric and staple one end and the strip to the ceiling. Then fold the material over the strip, pull tight and staple the other end. Lay the next piece of the ceiling material over the stapled end and do all over again. I did mine in 27 inch sections and it came out good. Each section was the full width of the bus. larry 4106
sorry took so long to get back with you.
i got one peice up yesterday and looks pretty good
i used 1/8 thermal board and glued the 3/16th foam on it and
glued the fabric to this. about 44 in spans. thanks j.t.
Ok if possible can you post a picture??
I'm curious on how it looks and how you attached it to the
roof.
Thanks

JT, My bus has 1/4" foam backed vinyl on the ceiling- The strip moulding that you need is an Airstream product. It has a base that is stapled (or however you want to attach it) then you install the vinyl headliner and then snap on the the cover (3/4" wide) to conceal the joint. It works very well. Your local Airstream dealer should be able to order it for you. You can click on my profile to see my foto page with other bus pics-heres on of the headliner.
It works great!
