Title: leveling roof line
Post by: jlaney on July 22, 2007, 01:58:06 PM
hello from Texas
working on 80 model le mirage, up front over the drivers area, is a construction
where the 2 defrost fans where mounted above the hat racks. i have cut the extra
frame work out , but the brasing is a 2/2 tubing and comes down approx 1 inch lower than the orig ceiling height. my question is how to handle this problem or just
let it alone.

Hi jlaney,

Don't know much about your question. Just had to say hello from a fellow Texan. Would like to invite you to a mini bus rally of sorts just north of Dallas on Sep. 13-16. Details in the Upcoming Bus Rally section on this board.

Happy Trails,

Paul

You don't give much detail on the framing that you are cutting out, so I assume that you know that the roof framing over the driver compartment holds up the front of the bus.

the portion which i cut out was the bow that was attached to the first and second roof support and didn't seem to have any load bearing effect. it was used only for a space to supply air to the windshield and side windows.

If you post a few pictures, it might be easier to get some help  ;D

I don't know your bus, so a picture would help me anyways.

Which one? 092('54), 421('55), 598('55), & 918('56). I might be trading one for another tho. A friend just got a fully seated one & doesn't want to convert a seated cruiser, so I'll probably let him have 092 for it. I think his is 865 869.

I love 'em all  ;D
