I recently changed my leaky front wheel seal (see photo below). I can thank some not so careful mechanic for my problem. The seal seat was buggered up when a new bearing race was installed. I replace the old seal with a Scotseal plus XL. It has an additional seal on the outside and they claim it would work with my messed up seat. One of the neatest things about that seal is that it does not require tools to install. You only need to push it into place with your fingers. This is the first time I have used one, so only time will tell. It was only $4 more than the standard seal and well worth it if it works.
Here is the link to the Scotseal plus XL:

Hope you changed the brake lining also! Hate it when they leak. Good Luck, TomC
Hi Tom,
Replacing the brake lining may or may not be necessary. When I replaced a leaking rear wheel seal shortly after a brake job I asked the mechanic (semi-retired after working on buses his whole career), if the brake lining needed to be replaced. He replied, "We'll test them after they are cleaned up". After he cleaned them and all the other parts with mineral spirits he let them dry and then held the flame from a propane torch to the lining. He said, "If there is any bubbling they will need to be replaced, if not, they will be alright". No bubbling so we left them in. I think whether the lining needs to be replaced somewhat depends on how long the vehicle is driven before the leak is discovered and repaired. Mine was fixed soon after failing. YMMV
