Title: Dometic Generator
Post by: silversport on July 02, 2007, 05:22:44 PM
The 4106 I just purchased has a Dometic Generator model #DSXL-75. I got it running and it will run the two airs but it is over heating (runs about 20 minutes from a cold start). The thermostat opens and I have flush out the radiator, can not look in the radiator to see if it is clogged. No water in oil, and oil is full, last thing is the water pump impeller is gone, the problem can not find parts, any help would be grateful.

Hi Silversport,

Welcome!

If you can provide the mo# and serial# and any part #'s, I can try and locate this through my Dometic OEM help team.

If the water pump impeller cannot be located, would it be possible to install a small marine sea-water pump near the engine and drive it with a belt?  Are there any accessory drives on the genset?  Jabsco makes all sorts of pumps for small marinzed gensets.  There are also small electric drive pumps for cooling pumps, but they would use more juice than you may want to give up...Summit Racing sells something similar for street legal drag cars.   Don't know exactly what the draw would be.
Post a pix of your pump and generator.  Didn't know Dometic made (rebadged) generators.   Possibly find parts through an OEM  manufacturer?
I have access to Yamaha/Kubota water pump parts...don't know what engine you have.   Is it a diesel?
Maybe Nick will have some luck with finding a new part!
Cheers, JR

This is NOT a diesel, it is a 20+ year old screaming 3720 RPM one banger with 562cc noise maker that was made by/for Dometic. There are no PTO, as a last resort I was thinking about a 120v pump but I am NOT going to put a lot of money in a discontinued item. Tried to scan the front cover of the operator's manual but could not get it small enough to post. The water pump is on the back side under the surge tank, impossible to get a photo with out pulling the unit out of the bus, I am not there yet.

Hi Robert,

Dometic has informed me that they have turned over all holdings of their generator div. to Generac some years ago.

The good news is they gave me a phone # for you to call...  414-544-4881

Good Luck
Nick-

Well Nick, That 414 # did not work, I noticed that it is the 800 # for Dometic, called them back and got a new lead.
