Title: PLASMA CUTTER EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Post by: mc8 tin tent on July 01, 2007, 07:24:05 PM
To most who have removed the factory bathroom on an MC8.
Do I need to disconnect the alt.,batteries, or anything else before using plasma cutter to remove old stainless steel toilet?
Also any hints an insight welcome.
  THANKS Dwayne

Hi Dwayne,

No, not at all... you are dealing with ground continuity when welding or plazma cutting.

Just shut off your battery switch and all is safe.

Good Luck

An MC8 most likely doesn't have an Vanner equalizer, but iif it has one it needs to be disconnected when welding.

My 1995 bus has an equalizer, DDEC, and tranny computer that all need to be disconnected when welding.  There are warning stickers in the engine compartment and battery bay warning about welding.

and if you have any of your own electronics on board, they need to be disconnected too.  Inverter, microwave, tv, stereo etc.  I have one big blade switch that disconnects all my house stuff.

If you have any electronic engine controls - any DDEC - you risk doing damage if its not diconnected.  Easy to do, only takes a minute.
