hello i have purchased 2 bluebird mirrors with the little mirror on top. they each have 9 wires . i was wondering if anyone knows how to hook them up. and which wire is for what. the wire colors are orange, white, green, purple, yellow, black, red, blue, brown. i have tried to figure it out but can only make the mirror on the bottom move right. i thought the red and black would be pos and neg. but that did not work it also made the brown hot. thanks for your help .Doug mars 4106/3044
Someone else may have experience with these or a better suggestion. But, there is a good chance that your Bluebird mirrors were built by Rosco (http://www.roscomirrors.com/products.php (http://www.roscomirrors.com/products.php)). If so, they sell wiring harnesses and switches on their site and you could probably get a schematic from them.
A wiring diagram would be good, but it can be doped out with a hot lead and a ground. I had to do it this way. Make a chart showing the function of each pair of wires. On mine, reversing the polarity of a pair of wires moved the mirror in the oposite direction. After figureing out what did what I used a mirror control switch from a Chevy. Donn
Do you have a picture of your mirrors? If we have the same mirrors we might be able to work together to get the wiring figured out. I can't post a photo of mine right now as the bus is in storage with the mirrors in the luggage bays.
I have a set of mirrors that are similiar or the same as yours that I got from Ron the Bus Nut. Miine seem to be German made from what I can tell.
I'm not sure yet that I can even use mine due to how my current mirrors are mounted. I'll see after I get my new entry door mounted.
On my Ramco mirrors I only have 8 wires and the colors are
Red Green Brown Yellow Orange Blue White and Black
The black goes to the heater switch
The white is negative
Red is up and down on the large glass
Green is up and down on the small glass
Brown is left and right on big glass
Yellow is left and right on small glass
Orange is common for the large glass
Blue is common for the small glass
From my switch there is a ninth wire that is purple and it is a ground for the light on the switch
Don't know if this will help but I just wired mine up and this was how they worked
