last post from the guy with the 06 was broken transmission........but never said what the problem was other than he ran it out of Slippery Juice.

Million plus miles of driving experience and nobody taught him how to check a dip stick or do a pre trip walk around to see the puddle of oil under the bus

Ok, I'm confused...

Why are we all of a sudden bashing busnuts on this board?

Did I miss the memo?

One evening there was a post on the BNO by one of them, I answered the post with info about where to find parts,  the next morning the post and the answer was gone, removed, and I haven't heard for him since.

I assumed that the caricature was the brainchild of some college student playing a prank, or just bored.
When a little investigating was done and the truth was known they were removed from the board.

This was all an assumption on my part as I have no evidence either way.

It doesn't matter, if they need help, I'll help if I can, and if they really need help (shrink) I'm out to lunch.

I wasn't bashing Paul, I was teasing him about his fishy.

I hope he didn't take it that I was being hateful, that was the farthest thing from my mind!

I'm not bashing anyone......several people asked serious question when he was initially posting and he got defensive about his qualifications.

Guy with the Fishy that he was concerned about CG and Overhang Weights.

Well I was bashing him

transmission oil boiled.....never have heard of that in a manual.

especially after you drove it cross country.

did they give you any idea of why.

I think I saw a post from Christy Hicks on the GM board not too long ago

so to satisfy tekebird,
i have my 06 getting a "new"transmission>
i messed it up by not keeping an closer eye to it,the hills might have killed it,i needed to pull a 22ft superheavy trailer across the rockies.after the rockies i got my trialer back( a 10by5 cargo trailer pretty empty besides my mountainbike and tools>
anyway i had no problems at all for the 12000 miles i drove besides the broken fuelpump in san antonio and the transmission.
off course there were dumb thing si did to the 06(running out of gas!!!) blown tire and my generator failing >
i am learning quick and i just found out what a dipstick is.
i am changing the primary ands secondary filter every 2000 miles,my 06 and me seem to be more comfortable with it>
need to fix the odometer though, also the fuelmeter is way off
anyway
going bikin g and bussing again in 4 weeks.
more stories while on the road and only on the busnut website because my blackberry only supprt that site(browser>????java script)

thanks to everybody>
and please tekebird explain to me what a dipstick is.

God I hope you are not serious?  On the Dipstick.

I would assume that your clutch would have let go before the entire transmission.

Did anyone adjust the clutch prior to you treking all of God's green and black earth?

Did you learn how to adjust the clutch?

Why are you changing fuel filters every 2000 miles?  Thats wasteful

Title: Re: lost members
Post by: dutch on June 27, 2007, 03:51:40 PM
he tekebird

the filters every 2000 miles
im just careful when going through the rockies
if it was flat all the time i would do it every 4000-6000 miles.
i have a profesional mechanic who knows about 2 stroke diesels do the repair for me(the mayor stuff)
i look and learn from it.
the clutch is fine and was fine after i had it all tuned up with my mechanci a few months ago.
we will swap the transmission out and see what we find along the way.
and misslazy
it's all good i dont know anybody personal here on this board so it's hard for me to feel any emotion when a stranger "insults me"
now if the comment was from a family or friend then i would be really offended

what is your oil change interval?
air filter service interval?
Title: Re: lost members
Post by: dutch on June 27, 2007, 05:17:32 PM
oilchanges(including new oilfilter every 6000miles)regardless if im in the rockies or on flat roads
transmissionfilter every 2000 miles
primary and secondary every 2000 miles if im in mountains only
every 4000-6000 flatland
and every 1000 miles i check the oil level with the DIPSTICK
i have to use about 1 gallon every 2000 miles
and i use only delo straight 40 cf2
it has been impossible to find rotella

Title: Re: lost members
Post by: tekebird on June 27, 2007, 05:32:59 PM
transmission filter?

Fule filters......maybe 10k but two is pissing money away

and why would you change the fuel filter more often in the mountains?????????????????

check and top off oil at every fueling

do you check your trans oil with a dipstick too?

Ok Guy's,

We are running way off topic on this thread.... :o

* There are some members that come on board only when they need an answer to a question.

* There are some members that just lurk to educate themselves quietly.

* And there are members that enjoy helping others. [like me].  ;D  And, I'm glad we have a large group like me!  :o  Thanks All...

Doesn't Fast Fred spend a lot of time out on his boat these days?

He complained a fair bit about the MAK board being too slow for his dialup after the new software was installed in April 2006.  Complaints too about BNO being slow after IAN upgraded last year, but I think IAN has long fixed that problem.

Hope this helps, Phil

The fuel filters should be changed based solely on A) the quality of fuel in the tank/pump, B) the volume of fuel being run through the filters - these are usually visually checked - there is no need to change a perfectly good filter - HTH
