Title: Electrical hookups for captain chairs
Post by: Danny on June 22, 2007, 10:55:24 AM
I bought two captain chairs to install.  They are Mountain Aire and have electric everything including heat seats.  My questions is what size breakers (fuses) would I need to such a hookup.  I assume they are DC.  I can't see the motor or don't have any spec information.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Danny

They are DC and a 15AMP fuse one for each chair will work.

15amp fuses may be underated.  I have FlexSteel chairs and they will put my 10amp DC converter (peak output of 12amps) into over current shutdown when the motors hit their stops at the end of travel.  I bet they peak over 20amps.  Maybe use slow blow fuses or self-reseting circuit breakers.

I would suggest you fuse the seat heat circuit separately from the positioning motors.

Don't forget to match the wire size to the fuse size.  Larger fuse needs larger wire.  Jack
