Title: Base Plate
Post by: george_barb on June 17, 2007, 01:39:55 PM
Just bought a 2001 Chev Cavalier as a toad vehicle and now need the base plate.  Any ideas or suggestions where to find a base plate.  We live in Canada.  We have a 89 MC 9 and are newbies on the board.

Welcome to the board. You indicate you want to find a base plate. Do you really need a whole tow bar assembly including the tow bar and the base plate that bolts onto the Chevvy?

You didn't give us enough information to help you.
We would need to know the manufacturer of your tow bar.

Here is a site that might help. If not post the info on your specific towbar and we'll try again.

Guess we need everything.  All we've got is the car and we know it can be flat towed.  Appreciate all the help we can get.  You can tell we're newbie's by the question!!

I ve just went thru all this recently, I purchased a Stowmaster by Towmaster on the E place, then went on the towmaster websight and found the base brkt. number that I needed for my Liberty. Using the number, purchased a base brkt. again on the E place, all I had to buy retail from towmaster was an attachment to join the two.>>>Dan

 George;
Welcome to our group! You will find lots of useful info here;and make a lot of friends. If you were to put a price on this kind of organization,it would be $$$$ lots!On that baseplate,I would try the BLUEOX website. They have a used section that is free,and will save you a lot of money. Also Craigs list ,Ebay,and some local advertising as well.There is some interchange,but not many,so that is where BLUEOX will help.

Go to www.hitchtrader.com and see what is listed. This site has a for sale and wanted list for used towing equipment and braking systems.   Thay is where we found our base plates and M&G brake for our Grand Cherokee.  Jack
