Title: Venting Microwave, Refrigerator, Oven
Post by: Dakell12 on June 16, 2007, 09:46:54 AM
Hi everyone, I was wondering if there is any need to vent a domestic 110v microwave and refrigerator in my RV. I am worried about the heating elements in the rear of the appliances. Also, is it totally necessary to vent a propane oven/stove (standard 21 inch model)? Thanks everyone!

I have a convection oven and micorwave in my bus,  the vented heat from the "oven" comes straight out the front of the unit.  When baking something in the summer, it puts out a lot of heat into my living area. I added a Fantastic vent just above the front of the microwave / oven, and coincidentally above my stovetop.  Its worked out very very well.  and since the vent can be closed,  I didn't have to worry about an extra way for wind / water to get in to the coach.  The fantastic fan moves a lot of air and has always been able to keep ahead of the excess heat.

Due to the byproduct of combustion of propane - water - I wuold definitely vent that stove some way  to keep excessive moisture from being captured inside the coach.  Lots of ways to do it, but important.  NOt to mention a little safer if you use it a lot.

The refrigerator is not entirely necessary, but a refer can put a siginifcant amount of heat into your coach in the summertime, just another angle to consider.  Mine is a super efficient refrig - lots in insulation, and it coils are on the top, very close to the Fantastic fan I use for the microwave, and right under one of my roof airs.
