I called
good Sam's Gmac and they said liability only and otherwise I would have to insure as a comercial vehicle? Jerry
Hi Jerry,
No you don't need commercial insurance as long as you are Not hauling passengers for a fee.
Check this link from the archives on insurance.

Nick-
Progressive charges me $470 a year for $1,000,000 liability, $1,000,000 uninsured motorist and actual cash value collision.
I insure mine with State Farm as an RV.
liability, uninsured motorist and actual cash value collision. Be sure to get an agreed upon value.
Try the same company that you use for your autos.
I did that and since it is registered as a motor home there was no problem.
Since my bus is still a work in progress no one would give me anything except liability. We went with Tennessee Farmer's Mutual. They said after it is completed, they would be happy to insure for the rest. Other places said they would at that time as well.

We also use state farm. They already insured all our cars, so it was very easy to get them to add the bus. We agreed on a value. At some point I'm sure I should "up" that value as we've added considerable $ since the purchase.
Hope this helps, Phil
