Hey Guys, just thought I'd let any of you around the Midwest - Cincinnati to be exact - that the GMC Futurliner will be at the Cincinnati Concours 'de Elegance this sunday June 10. I'm planning on going just to see it. It's history and I just never thought I would be able to see it.
I'll be the longhaired guy standing in amazement and drooling! :) I would love to rebuild one!!!
Later,
Chaz
Chaz, you have to take pictures and post them here.
Chaz, If you don't take a whole bunch of pictures, all the moderators will get together and curse you so that your bunions grow hemorrhoids with warts!

GO BUSSING!
GOT IT!!!!!!! Pictures!!!
Ok, I'll get me a new pad of paper and some new pencils and start drawing pictures as soon as i get there. ;)
But, there is a slight chance that the weather could run me off. But I REEEEEEEEALLY want to see that bus!!!! Wonder if i could find one that still needs to restored? LOLOLOL It's a pipe dream, but I have the most fun in my head!! ::)
Chaz
Chaz .. here's a site where they documented a restore on the Futurliner. It's a good read and very interesting. After you get though it you may have 2nd thoughts on rebuilding one, well ... not without a sugar lady anyway ;D ;D ;D
http://www.futurliner.com/ (http://www.futurliner.com/)
I just click the link and hit the 2007 shows and this is the bus that will be there.
Yeah, It would be an expensive venture, but this is the sort of thing I do. (Hot Rods and metal sculpture) IT would obviously be a MASSIVE undertaking, but how cool would that be?!!!!!! Plus, I imagine it would be worth it when it was all said and done.
There would just be one problem - all my friends can verify this - I HATE to sell ANYTHING!! ;D (I've had my '56 Chevy for 28 years and my '46 Knucklehead Harley 27 years, just to name two) So that sugar momma would come in real handy!!! LOLOL
That is a good site. I seen it earlier. Some really good info and pix there.
Chaz
Chaz,
Know what you mean about the Futureliner. That contraption (can't truly call it a bus) really does get to us creative types.Does anyone know where the Futureliner that Oral Roberts University had went to? That was the last one I knew of.
Tom
Chaz, remember all those gremlins that some peoples busses have???? Well......no picures....and all those gremlins are yours and yours alone!!!!! LOL Cat
Does MAK still have his?
I was thinking he used to have 2.
That is so cool! Almost makes a case for moving out there to volunteer to work on 'em. ::)
Hey Chaz, Take tons of pictures & build your own! You could probably improve on it some. You could start with something like an old school bus & modify it until it looks like what you waned!
To not do this is a waste of your talent ;D
It's coming to Moline, Il where I am right now in late Aug. guess I'll have to book some gigs here for that week. That thing is very reminiscent of the Hyawatha train engine
Thanx for the compliment Kyle, but I'd probablly at least have to start with a tail light or something!! LOLOLOL ::) yeah, right!
It would probably be worth it, Ron!! What a fun coach these would make!
Chaz
Forgive my ignorance guys. I thought the futureliner was a one of a kind???? How many were made? Just curios for knowledge. :) Thanks.......Steve.......
Twelve. Follow the link given above for lots of info about them.
futurliner.com in Google or Yahoo will bring up lots of information.

I flew out to look at one for sale near Long Beach (if memory serves) a couple years ago and decided it wouldn't be worth the effort, I think he wanted less than $30k for it.
That's before the one sold for however many million dollars last year. Oh well, we'll throw that bad decision on the heaps of others.

Hi Guys,
I have a 45 minute DVD of the restoration of Futureliner No. 10 that prevost82 gives the link to. A friend picked it up at Iola, WI one summer where Futureliner No. 10 was on display. If anyone is interested in ordering the DVD I think it is available from the National Automotive & Truck Museum of the United States, 1000 Gordon Buehrig Place Auburn, IN 46706. He paid $20 at the show but it may be a bit more with shipping. I thought it was very interesting. I showed it at a Midwest Bus Nuts rally and it was very well recieved.
Thanks, Sam 4106
That would be worth the trip to see for sure. I would drive a bit to see it myself. Take lots of pics for sure. You never know when you might get the chance to see it again.
Ok guys,
I got some!!! ;D What a coooooool bus!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o I'm in the process of doing what I need to do to post them. I'll start a new thread with the pix.
Chaz
