Since I didn't see the original post which was deleted, I am not sure this is the situation.
Question: If I were to see a great sale somewhere that could benefit other BusNuts here online and simply posted the who, what, where of that sale ... is that considered a violation. I always thought it was people who are trying to post something for themselves (personal gain), selling their bus, engine, whatever.
Again, if someone posts information to simply make others aware of a great deal ... but have no involvement with the sale ... where's the issue?

That is fine, but this particular post was a blatant advertisement for a business.
The post is not actually gone, but moved to another location for further review. It was decided that since it was and advertisement, it had to go.
Also, the poster had only registered that day, has made only one post and not been active on the board since then, not even to view any posts since an hour after he posted. He also probably doesn't even know that it was deleted since he was last active on the board at 07:04:30 on 06/01/07. He registered at 06:49:31 and posted at 07:02:44.
If it appears that we are being unilateral, we are. MAK has given us certain rules that
WE have to follow and since he is the owner and operator of this website, we have to follow those rules.
It seems that everyone, or most everyone likes our keeping spammers from messing up the board like they did on the old one, and most everyone likes the idea that we attempt to stop all personal attacks and Cajone size contests.
This is just one more way that we try to make people happy. In this case, the people we are making happy is MAK (Mike Kadletz) and his staff.

Sorry - I have to disagree with you Dallas. Its not just MAK you are serving - you are making me happy as well. I saw the original post - thought it was advertising at best and likely SPAM and was glad to see it gone. Keep up the good work.

I think the problem that I see is just selective enforcement. REMOVE all spam/ads/sites that do not have paid ads. Some of us that read the boards are not as informed as some of you others. We actually need information about where to buy things at, yeah it is a commercial venture for Mak and I understand him desiring to censor things that do not make him money but apply it to everything that is posted that is an ad.
I believe it was just yesterday that I got to see a ad from another company on this board to replace all the panels on a bus, I see ads for some guys refrigeration company every time he posts, I see other ads providing conversions of rv and ads for Place called BOBs all of these are similar yet nothing is ever done about them they are spam also. If you check on google or yahoo the ads have ratings based on the number of times their spider has seen the key words on a site (any site) so each time a user posts that info on any webpage they improve their rankings and move up on the list of NON-PAID google or yahoo ads.
Now the above is not to say that I would not miss those ads just like ones that state that they provide and sell rv parts on a closeout but heavy hand should be equal across the board.
I'd like to add my 2.5 cents worth,I read the add,and yes he should of read all of the rules before posting,but then again I'm not perfect either(who is).The one thing I have learned about rules,none of them are set in concrete,their are exceptions to everything,our goverment is one fine example.I think we should of have least notified this person prior to deleting his post just in case he was legit,as a curiosty as if nothing else,randon acts of kindness go a long way.To set the record straight,this person does exist,the business does exist,and he has helped many a busnut out in time of need.The old fellow is up in his years that owns the business,the economy is we all know sucks to say the least,so he's going out of business,doesn't own a computer,much less how to work one(old generation).Randy,the person who posted the add,is just helping the old fellow out.Yes he's selling his items,wouldn't surprise me none,if he gave the item to you tho.This business of his is in Santee California(San Diego Aera)Its a shame when everything has to have a dollar value attached to it,I do know Randy who posted the post,I know of the gentleman that has the bussines(down here who doesn't),like I said,this is my 2.5cents worth..............Frank
While I might of liked to see what they have on closeout, I am glad that the moderators remove blatant advertising. It is a fine line between some signatures or recommendations by board members and advertising. And it is difficult to balance fairness with usefulness. I agree with and appreciate where the line has been drawn as described by Dallas. I also think it is good that debatable things are moved for review rather than just deleted by one person.

The chemicals you have to endure doing the job you try to do will do that to you. Too many BBs tends to dilute everything. If 30 boards each get five or six posts a day, nobody will visit any of them because there is no value in that few posts. People want to visit BBs that have lots of posts.
Most do not like visiting boards like this one because of posters that comment about GODS and support others of them at the same time.
If for the most part those that like posting all the trash would just shut up about personal things any board would be great but Nope you cant get answers without someone posting about how bad you spell or that you drive the wrong kind of bus.

You are correct. I have posted 6 times after 5 years of reading. So yes 6 points that I felt needed to be complained about. Not a bad record considering the points posted about. Sorry if it offends you for someone to speak out. Apparently someone that does not say much in the regards here is frown upon instead of those that just post and post and never say anything.
If you have not noticed the complaints other then disagreeing with your husband have been belittling others on this board because they are not as articulate or they do not possess the skills of typing or spelling that others do. Then I point out the fairness of deleting some posts regarding ads for rv/bus items but not others.
Really I do understand that this is the mods/maks play ground and if I dont like the rules I do not have to play here but speaking out in a community of like kind of folks should never be discounted. Those that do so have a tendency to want to be the only ones allowed on the playground. Well if that is what you desire then you are getting there fast but for the most part I was under the impression this was a playground for anyone. Think about it.
