Hey there folks, does anyone know a good way to obtain 3 captain chairs with a small budget? Anyone looking to sell used ones, or know of a place to buy them? Thanks as always.
I bought two really nice brand new velour seats from ebay. The were straight out of a brand new freightliner, still had the plastic on them. I bought a swivel from RV Surplus and mounted one on the swivel and the other one I used as a driver seat. They worked very well and for the two of them, I paid less than $100.
I bought 2 from a conversion van at the junk yard. Paid 40.00 each. They have arm rests both sides, also shoulder seat belts. Tom Y
If you opt for seats from a salvage conversion van, the front seats will only slide back and forth while the center seats in the back will not only slide but will probably swivel as well and get less use than the front seats did, I just helped a friend get a couple from a salvage yard for his SS and they were in like new condition for 25 dollars each.
I also got a nice pair out of a wrecked customized van from a junk yard. They slide, swivel, and recline and are comfy. I agree with the second row being in better condition (less use) than the front pair. Also, make sure you get the complete pedestal mount. That part alone costs more than I paid for two complete seats with the pedestals.
