Title: Need directions for setting valves on Onan
Post by: John Z on May 26, 2007, 08:57:29 AM
I want to get my genset in shape for use this summer. Judging from the condition of the oil in it when i bought the coach, i doubt much maintenance has been done to it. I want to adjust the valves, but do not have a manual for it. Do any of you know where i can find directions and specs for doing this? TIA

You might ask NCbob on this board,

He is our resident noise maker fixer-upper and his sparkling personality along with his charming wit and selfless demeanor make him a wonderful person to get help from.  ;)

Which model of Oh-no do you have? I may even have a manual for it.

If all else fails, I have a CCK manual with specs. I can scan and email a couple of pages to you if you need it.

Thanks for all the links and info. Also thanks for the offer Stan. I just ran out of time tonight to research the links, but maybe can get to it tomorrow sometime. Boy, some nice weather in the spring sure does motivate a guy to get some work done!!! And i am enjoying every minute of it too!

If you set the valve clearances at .008 (Intake...cold) and .013 (exhaust...cold) you should be OK.

Thanks for the links and the specs. Stan, if not too big of a chore, i sure would appreciate the pages covering this task. Being an ex systems guy, i like things in b&w. I enjoyed seeing that the old CCK models are regarded as pretty good old machines. I am less inclined to be such a rush to replace it.

Stan, yes, i did receive the pages you sent me. Thank you for the help. I ran out of time last week, and then had a weekend from hell on the road with the coach. So now it is down the list of my priorities, but i will keep the specs and get it done soon i hope.
