Title: Posting on the board
Post by: luvrbus on May 17, 2007, 03:18:33 PM
If the board was used for what it was intend for there would not be any kind of problems but when you get people together conflicts just happen, i do not know Tom C but he is a good example of how posts should be and he has to spend a lot of time to research his posts to help someone he never bad mouths other peoples brand of buses he told me one time on the board that my brakes had to be gold if i spent that kind of money the way he said it did not offend me because i know he was just trying to tell me i spent to much.We have lost a lot of knowledgable people on the boards because of all this bickering and will lose more if we don't stop and  have fun again. just my thoughts

This board has been a big help to me, I can post a question and have the answer in just a few minutes, it's great.  A little good natured kidding is healthy, bickering or belittleing statesments isn't, it's up to each of us to read our own posts and see if we are being helpful or not, this board is here for all of us, governed by a very liberal set of rules, and moderated by a few dedicated people, I'm an administrator of a chat system and I know first hand what a challenge it can be and how time consuming it is, not to mention frustrating at times.  I commend the people that work so hard to help others, not just the moderators but who ever logs in, this forum does more than just help people, it forms a community of RV'ers and creates friends.

AMEN!! to both you guys.

There are often several ways to achieve the same results.  The no I am right and you are wrong attitudes is why I do not post frequently.

There are a few very knowledgable and helpful people on this board.  Then there are those who think they know all there is to know about everything.  Then there are those like me who are just trying to learn without reinventing the wheel.  The knowledgable and helpful are greatly appreciated!
;D ;D

Luvrbus,

You made me dig deep to find this from January:

http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=3133.msg28034#msg28034 (http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=3133.msg28034#msg28034)

Now you have me thinking too!

Moderators, I would like to see ALL future posts put in two catagories:

CRS-Cliff Related Subject  This would only include things that I am or may be interested in.   Email me first to be sure.

HCIHCT- How Can I Help Cliff Today  This area would be for everyone to post there travel plans so I can arrange cheap shipping for parts I need or so that they could schedule there vacations to help me finish my bus.

But lets get real, we would need to keep the OT for everyone elses needs.  I don't want to be thought of as selfish.     LOL

Cliff

Thank you for helping all newbies on what this board is really for............ ;)  ;D  LOL

Cliff

Hope, respect, compassion, & understanding are wonderful things to get. Even better to give.
It's too bad more people don't understand this.

Maybe some of those with bones to pick can try forgiveness & then be able to find true happiness.

I have made some great friends on the bussin' boards - life is good!  ;D

I have noticed some jerks too.  :o  I suppose they have their place, but it'd be nicer if they weren't running loose everywhere else too!  ;)

On the other hand, some of the flame wars are funny to watch. The posters reveal much about their true character.

The flame wars help me to interpret the info posted elsewhere by giving it better context IE; is the poster a seat-of-the-pants-wildman, or an experienced mechanic? Makes a difference, to me anyway.

Oh Cliff, re HCIHCT- since diesel is so high & the WVO/ Bio is such a hassle, Seems a shame a great guy such as yourself should have to deal with such a financial burden, so I'll volunteer to use your bus for you.  ;D

Hey Kyle,
Every group or organization needs a few jerks. This make us really appreciate how nice everyone else is.  Jack

It seems like the common thinking lately has been that off topic discussions are what are causing flamewars and that if everyone just stayed on topic it would all be peaceful.  Maybe it's just me, but it seems like more fights are breaking out in on-topic discussions than off-topic.  Think about it.  Everybody seems to be quite well behaved in the joke, life event, trip experience and even political threads.  They laugh and/or walk away if they don't agree with it.  But when it comes to bus conversion discussions, pride gets involved.  Somebody disagrees with somebody or makes a failed attempt at a humorous jab and pride gets bruised and the flames errupt.

Some of the most heated personal attacks have been in threads discussing someone trying something new or at least different than most folks.  When I joined the forum, "Do it your way" was the anthem and fights seemed to be rare.  Lately the mood seems to have shifted to "Do it my way or you're an idiot".  Maybe we need to get back as a whole to the idea that one of the great things about bus conversion is that everybody can do it their own way.

As to the moderator's, I appreciate what they do.  It is a difficult, thankless job with no pay.   As per the famous quote:  You can please most of the people some the time.  You can please some of the people most of the time.  But you can never please all of the people all of the time.
