I don't even have propane ???
Hi Ed,
I have done about 35 Dometic Recalls so far... All 2 door refrigs are affected from 1996 to 2004.
If you need the kits, let me know. I have alot...
Nick-
What's the problem? I own one, bought used, but I've never used it yet.
Paul
Hi Paul,
There is a fire hazzard in the combustion compartment that requires service centers to install a upgrade kit.
The kit consists of 3 metal plates, a high limit switch, replacement wires, and new labeling.
Dometic is now on a 2nd wave of notices for this recall.
Hope this helps

I got tired of RV refrigerators conking out and installed a house refrigerator and a Xantrex inverter. No hickups in over 2 years and the freezer will keep anything brick hard!!! Quit fooling with the RV imitation refrigerators.
I have to agree with Goodwin,
With all the hassle RV refrigeration is, it's cheaper and easier to put in a house fridge and be done with it.
I have a 15 year old or so 12 cu ft. GE that was used when we got it. It draws 3.9A and runs about 4 to 6 times per day, depending on the temperature in the bus.
It keeps cold stuff cold and frozen stuff really frozen.
When we had the RV refrigerators, they would freeze, but not hard enough to keep ice cream for any length of time.
Considering the price of a new 12 cu ft. Dometic or Norcold, I figure I can buy a whole bunch of house type fridges if I need to.
Do it your way. I'm doing it mine.

GO BUSING!
Hi Dallas and Goodwin,
Just ask a refrigeration guy whats in his coach? ahhhh, Guess? I don't even have to word it huh.
Nick-
Instead of guessing, I'll cheat and go look at the magazine!!! ;D
By the way, I had the recall done. I haven't put it back in yet and now it sounds like maybe I shouldn't. Hmmmmmm.......

Nick, I've got an RM3862IM...bought in '02? Before '04 in any event. Is this something that's owner doable? If so, I'll be happy to send you the serial number and any other data necessary for repair in exchange for the kit to repair the unit. You keep the labor for install, and I'll be happy to pay for shipping the kit to NC.
I've used the propane function almost exclusively.
I've checked the area around the firebox when it's operating and have never noticed any excess heat or obvious problems.
I'll take the time to register the unit. Be good to get updates on this sort of thing.
Any other FDM/recall on this unit? Good time to ax huh?
Thanks, JR

Hi JR,
The kit is fairly easy to install as long as you are knolagable with wireing..
I'll give you a call
Nick-
I also have a house refrigerator and a Xantrex inverter.
This was for a new Skyline travel trailer that I used to own.
In the recall they mention ammonia leak.
I will try and post the Dometic/Stericycle recall.

If it's to hard to read I can email it to who ever wants it.
Thanks Nick, I'm pretty familiar with wiring. Is this project doable thru the lower vent? Got good access to the electronics and heaters. Or is removal of the fridge necessary?
I'm available almost any time. If I don't answer, I'll call right back.
JR
Along with the Eagle I have purchased a travel trailer that has a RM2652 that falls into this recall range. Can someone tell me how to see if this kit has already been installed?
Thanks,
Tom Hamrick
1984 Eagle 10S
Hi Tom,
The kits were issued to dealers this past November [06']
There are updated labeling that dealers are to apply and the print dates are 06' on my lables.
JR, The kits are installed from the lower rear door. Not big of a project
