Took the eagle on a camping trip for the first time in 3 years. Time fly's when converting. My question is, what is the normal turbo boost going 60mph with an eagle 10, 6v92ta mechanical. During my road trip to the camping spot the boost would go over 12 during acceleration then drop to hold 6psi at 60mph on flat ground with a steady foot feed. I feel my filters are due for a change due to the lower boost number during acceleration, but then this in no race car.

Boost is determined by how the engine is tuned. By which injectors, turbo, cylinder liners, cam timing. The most important thing is that the engine is not producing any black smoke once it is warmed up. Good Luck, TomC
Turbo boost is also relative to RPM so if you try to accelerate at a low RPM the boost will be less than at a higher RPM. If you are rally lugging the engine there is hardly any boost. Jerry
That sounds about right daved. I have a 8V92ta and that's very close to my readings...
My DDEC 2 6V92 will push 25 lbs at full throttle between about 1700 RMP and 2110 RPM. Thats also what the book says. You must be using wide open throttle to push the most boost. If you have no smoke to turn the exhaust side of the turbo, you will have no pressure (boost) on the intake side feeding the engine. When you take your foot off the throttle you will have no boost. You can look up your application but I think 6 lb and 12 lb are on the low side for your engine.
The boost is directly proportional to the throttle opening.My 6V-92 with 9G90 injectors puts out 20# at full throttle, regardless of the rpm. I never checked at 60 mph because it would vary with load, hills, headwinds etc. Donn
I have a 8v92ta in my bus also and thats about where my readings are if i ran mine with 20# flying J could open a new station
I'm not sure the first 6 lbs is turbo boost, it seems more like blower boost. The next 6 lbs is turbo boost and thats not much of a turbo if its only pumping 6 lbs flat out. I think this calls for checking both sides for leaks and loose bolts. Do you have the right air cleaner? The difference between 12 and 25 lbs of boost is a lot of free horsepower. Boost pressure will also blow the heat out thru the exhaust and away from the radiator. Those buses that are running hot should be looking for a 35 lb boost hi altitude turbo.to blow the heat away. They are also fun to drive!
njt, the boost gauge on an Eagle is on top of the blower so the 6# is from the turbo,i don't know about a 6v92 but i do know that when my 8v92 is making 20# it is working hard and making alot more heat and using more fuel

Looks like this is normal for the speed.
Yes I can get more boost if needed during hills, but 10PSI boost on the flat highway would require another job to pay for the tickets. I would rather spend the money on fuel.
