The Cheapest Waterfront Money Can't Buy! ;D
We bought our '54 PD4104 in October (Halloween night actually) and this is a picture of our first adventure with it. The kids were boppin' around like popcorn from the excitement as I sweat through a few windy road downshifts on the 'ol Spicer 4 speed.
Can't wait to get on the road this summer.

Congrats on the bus! Ain't no better way to travel with your children. The trips you spend together in the bus are priceless. Our boys are now grown and married, but they still talk about the trips we did in our 4106 when they were young. Jack

Thanks for a great post, most of the posts deal with tires, throttle cables, air brakes etc, it's nice to see one now and then that talks about the fun and good times we all enjoy. In this area we can get lost on a deserted beach for months and only see another person come thru now and then, my kids grew up enjoying a campfire and sitting on the beach, swimming for hours, feeding the mosquitos and now my grandkids are learning to enjoy being outside in the fresh air, doing family things and developing a real appreciation for things other than video games.
After renting motorhomes in the 70's and 80's and most with 30-40gal of water, I equipped my bus with 130gal water, 85gal gray, and 45gal black. The longest my wife and I have dry camped was 5 days where we mildly conserved water, mainly with military showers (during summer and didn't get cold). We still had about a third of the water left, so it was nice that my idea of being self sufficient for a week was pretty accurate. Personally, I like dry camping the best-mainly you don't have to worry about electrical quality issues (brown outs, black outs, spikes, wrong wiring, etc).
Glad to see you're enjoying your 04-probably one of the best buses made (although they're many). Good Luck, TomC

It definitely is the only way to go as far as travelling etc. Only problem is that none of our friends want to ride in their own campers...they all want to ride with us.
Guess I'll have to make the kitchen table bigger. ;D
