Title: Hitch installation
Post by: Lee Bradley on April 04, 2007, 10:36:39 AM
This would probably not be my choice for installing a receiver. Looks like a lot leverage on 7 small bolts.

You're right ...it's not so much the 7 bolts but it should have two brackets welded to the cross beam parallel to the main frame rails and bolted to the frame rails, 12" min from the cross beam. I wouldn't tow anything with that setup.

I'm guessing that is a Prevost.  I sure hope that isn't a factory hitch.  I recall reading that Prevost has a frame of some sort that supports hitches much better than an MCI.

Prevost82: I am guessing that your hitch frame is 2" X 8" rectangular tubing with a 1/4" wall but what does the HSS mean?

From this picture it doesn't really look like it's that bad of a job! I think what your looking at is not actually the hitch bolts but I could be wrong! I would have to see it in person to be sure!

Definitely not a Prevost

Newell does a nice looking job. They run a hydraulic fan also, the pump is on the right. That hitch may be stronger than it looks from the back.  Tom Y
