Title: Sure is slow on the board
Post by: David Anderson on May 04, 2026, 06:29:50 PM
Hey guys,

I haven't posted in a while, but there sure isn't much traffic on the forum these days.  I had difficulty logging in.  I finally got my username and password string correct and back on.  The password recovery did not recognize my username or email.  I went to the home page and I searched high and low for the forum icon button.  I never found it there, but I'm sure it's there.

I had to find the BCM forum on a google search, enter there, and I had success logging in that way.  The forum icon on the home page needs to be big, loud, and gaudy so people will click on it and read the forum threads, and hopefully join the group.  We need new busnuts.  We old farts are aging out.  I've been here 27 years, and I think I'm still younger than most.

Anyway, I am still flying my 1985 Houston Metro eagle, her 26th year as a conversion.  Got a trip to Hawk Spring Wyoming in a month to build a new church with my volunteer group.  I hope diesel will come down some before then.  :(

Cheers,
David

Duh,
I went back to my phone and found it in the menu.  Item 06 after classifieds.

My bad.

I'm a "new Busnut" and check this forum almost every day. I read every single post and am very thankful for all the info and experience that lives here.

I just recently got my MC9 dream to come alive after being stalled out for years due to young kids and what that does to family life. My original bus became the parts bus as I found one with the interior already in a livable condition with a blown engine. I had already rebuilt the engine for my original bus and had it setting in the shop ready to go.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know there is at least one young guy here who hopes this forum stays alive!

The bus conversion crowd is fading it is sad to see it 20 years ago you could have a rally a 100 buses would show up, not happening any longer you see the same buses now setting in field rotting down, the BCM is doing better than the BNO I still check every day. Gary works hard to keep the BCM going he never makes a dime from the board he is always spending his  own money to keep it going. It's nice to see younger people give it try, but the cost now of owning a bus takes a toll on the newcomers and the older crowd. I have friend that is selling his bus he told me a set of 315/22.5 Michelin tires just set him back $9600.00 and 4-8D AGM batteries was another $4800.00 installed with a new Vanner so he said it is time to let go

The BNO board must be down.haven't been able to open it for a couple days now.
I readily check the BCM, BGM, & the BNO forums daily.
I have to admit, I see some forum members surfacing on other social media sites that don't frequent the three forums I mentioned above compared to earlier times.

Yep me too Dan. Tried to get into BNO for a few days and will not open. I even tried to get into and open an account on Facebook so I could get into marketplace to look at a used car the wife may want but was told I had an account (which I never have had any there) and it has been closed permanantly and will never be opened again? I have never used FB before and tried all of my three emails and same thing happened. Oh well guess I don't need it still, LOL

FYI, anyone having difficulty accessing or logging in to this forum can use the 'Contact Us' link on BCM homepage to reach Gary.  IIRC there was a 'Forum' link in the main menu on homepage, but it's not there now and I can't find it anywhere.  Will look into this with Gary tonight.

I come here because I have been for decades and will continue. Great perspective from people here and funny and good nature banter thrown in for good measure. You also have to remember that there are tons of programs on YOUTUBE dedicated to buses. Great historical info as well as channels devoted to new or updated products. Not saying that Gary has to do that since it's his site and he does it his way so no problem and anyone can take it or leave it.

Some of the U tube channels will get you into trouble, I hate it when I ask people that come here and I ask who told you do it that way and they say I saw it done on U tube

There's a Forum link in the mobile dropmenu (burger upper right), you can see it on a phone or tab but not in desktop view.  I vaguely remember adding a link to the desktop main menu a few years back, but it's no longer there.  I believe I did find a desktop link more recently on BCM homepage, but it was well hidden and can't find it now.  There's also a problem with the footer links on homepage.  Gary will have to take this up with Jorge, who handles the magazine website.

(https://thekrashsite.com/pics/fp.gif)  Well, found it today.  It's the "Conversion Q&A" button, last on homepage main menu, that links to this forum.  Granted, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but shouldn't take a couple days to find it.  Something more obvious like "Forum" or "Community" might be better.  "Conversion Q&A" is more descriptive of a FAQ, and nobody reads FAQs.
